“HOTEL VS SELF-CATERING HOME”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2015

Beautiful hotel, Good service / better be for the High price !!! Only Ocean Views suites and taking advantage of the Spa justified to be that Far away from everything,
Room style a bit small , breakfast way too high in price (16 € or so/ per Pers; )

Next time we come we will search for a OCEAN FRONT RENTAL HOUSE OR APPARTMENT;
but not on the Remblai in the Summer months because too noisy and no parking (no parking is for year round..
LES SABLES D OLONNE is A NICE and ANIMATED BEACH RESORT TO VISIT YEAR ROUND, has a MICRO CLIMATE !

Room Tip: to request ocean view facing the pool and the entrance of the harbor

Quite confortable room, spacious, good looking window, more space than usual to store dresses.
Breakfast of quality in a nice atmosphere. I didn't try the Thalasso. A little bit small the bathroom with no offer of shampoo, body lotion and other little things: quite unusual for an hotel of this level. Boiler for hot water available, I would have liked a Nespresso machine.

We truly love this resort and have been visited every summer since our daughter was born in 2012. Each year we find new advantages and perks on both the property, in the nearby town and the natural hinterlands to just to the south. Situated on an artificial lake adjacent to the sea near amenities of both the city and the natural beauty of the vendee, the resort is ideal for people with kids who may want to engage in a variety of activities. One of the best zoos in France and a Casino with a great restaurant and live entertainment lie within walking distance.

The property has upgraded considerably since our first visit. They have revamped the rooms, lobby and the amazing indoor seawater pool and added an outdoor pool that's designed like an artificial beach. The restaurant is considered one of the best in Les Sables d'Olonne and frequently draws visitors from the town. The staff has been consistently kind and patient. We highly recommend this property and will likely make a fourth visit in 2015.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms that face the roof or the parking lot.

I stayed for one night in early September whilst on a cycle tour through France.

The hotel has a great location overlooking the lake and beach to the south of Sable d'Olonne. The rooms are very quiet, comfortable and well equipped - in my opinion it would be worth the upgrade to a sea view room as there are lovely sunset views over the beach towards the town.

The reception staff were very helpful, in particular Lionel who allowed me to leave my bike in the left luggage area behind reception.

The indoor pool was very good but I did not have time to use the other spa facilities.

I did not eat in the restaurant so I can't comment on the food however it does enjoy an excellent sea view. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of fresh fruit, pastries and eggs, bacon etc..

Overall I was very impressed with the hotel.

Room Tip: Go for a sea-view room

Although the rooms were small , they were adequate, but not luxury.
I liked the faux cruise line decor in the lobby, and the outside terrace area was very cool.
We swam in the sea, which was ashore walk. The restaurant food was average, though the breakfast was excellent. We didn't swim in the pool as it was always full of senior exercise classes..

Room Tip: Definitely get a sea view

This hotel is not what you would expect from a Mercure, its 4 star probably five, with an excellent decor and fabulous sea views if in the are you should think of staying here, It has an outdoor pool that has been designed to look like a natural beach but if that doesn't tempt you then the real thing is only meters away, the restaurant is of a high standard also with an excellent sea view.
staff are friendly and helpful,
all in all a pleasant well appointed place to stay

Room Tip: Choose a room with a sea view

Well-run four star property a few minutes from the beach at the far end of the town, meaning a car journey if you don't fancy the hotel restaurant - there is a lively and good value eating scene down by the harbour, which we made the most of. Bedrooms and public areas clean and comfortable. Attractive cruise liner thing is the main design motif. Substantial breakfasts. Didn't try the thalasso set-up but it all looked fine. Bike hire available and excellent bike paths along the cliffs and sea front which we enjoyed. Staff pleasant and friendly. There is a decent indoor pool by the spa, but an attempt to create a small outdoor pool with artificial beach and changing huts doesn't really come off - it looks too twee and contrived. Overall, a safe and sound bet for a stay close to the sand and surf of sunny Les Sables.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms cost more as expected but we found our rooms at the back perfectly quiet, and they...
