“A hotel of very poor quality”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2009

The hotel is located near amusement park Futuroscope. My boyfriend and I booked this hotel as a part of package (2 entry tickets+overnight stay) at Futuroscope's web site. The price was about 80 euro and I consider it very overpriced.

The good thing was that the hotel was easy to find (regardless whether you come right to TGV station "Futuroscope" or by bus from Poitiers - everyone knows where hotel is). The staff was helpful with keeping our bags at storage room (everyone pretty much has access to it, all the bags are stored in one room and you never know who is sneaking in your bag) and agreeing to keep our computer to their office (as valuable). That is it about good stuff.

The bad thing was that the room was ready only by 4pm, so we had to go to the park at 10am and either leave the park at 4pm to put our bags to the room or just come to the room after the evening show (about 10pm). We chose second option.

The room was rather small, but quite clean. With very small thin pillows, 2 thin blankets, tea/coffee station, small LCD TV (which staff is very proud of, as it is highlighted at their website. Come one, guys, who comes to one of Futuroscope hotels to watch TV?!!)
The bathroom was a disaster! First of all, the bathroom is actually a solid cube of 4 plastic walls and bottom built into a room. The "cube" was leaking and after having shower we had a big puddle on the floor in the room.

Secondly, there was no bathtub or shower cabin (or even some kind of shower bowl to stand at when having shower). So when having shower one would just stand in the middle of the bathroom and pour oneself with water from leaking shower hanger (sorry, don't know the right word in English). Thanks God there was a shower curtain what created some privacy and kept warm air around you during the shower. Or course during the shower water was all over the bathroom floor (no shower bowl, remember?).

Thirdly, the toilet flash did not work at all! We were staying in this place only for one night, and having come home tired after whole day in the park after 10pm we did not want to complain and call staff to fix the toilet. We just wanted to go to bed. So we had to flash the toilet with the water from the shower! Embarrassing but true.

Safety door lock (sort of blocking chain) was broken, so my boyfriend had to sleep with our valuables under his pillow.

The last but not the least, the windows did not have sort of half-transparent curtains, so in the morning we should have either stay in dark room with thick curtains shut to get dressed or let some light in but also get dressed with people looking into our window (our room was at 1st floor overlooking the parking lot of the hotel). It was quite inconvenient.

The breakfast next morning was OK. Nothing special - breads, cereals, yogurts, jams, tea/coffee/juice. The tables at the cafeteria were dirty and covered with crumbles after people who ate here before us. It looks like they clean the tables in early morning and then only when everyone is done.

Furniture both in our room and hotel was quite old and cheap. The doors were thin and it was somewhat noisy outside the window.

Overall impression. The hotel is one of the cheapest in the village of Futuroscope hotels. And everything said by that. Hotel is badly maintained, with cheap linen and furniture, you get only basic things. And even those are broken :(
If I were in Futuroscope other time, i'd pay 20 euro more and get nicer hotel. Jules Verne Hotel is not worth its money, believe me.
