We were given a tiny attic room, with the smallest double bed in the world. The room was on the third floor with narrow stairs and the lift only went to the second floor.
The lift wasn't working at all on our second day.
It was a very convenient location for the ferry port, bars and restaurants.

If you find yourself having to stay the night in Calais you won't find much of a choice, but this Mercure was not very good at all. Arriving by car, meant that finding a parking place close to the entrance was virtually impossible. This meant that carrying suitcases down the street amongst the refugees that roam the streets not a pleasant experience. Private parking is available but you must wait until someone checks out before you gain access. Once in the room, you notice the limited space, the uncomfortable bed and the tiny bathroom. The saving grace was the low tariff which also included an adequate buffet breakfast...but this is not a hotel I can recommend.

My friend and I were staying for two nights here.

PROs:
- central location;
- more than reasonable price policy;
- clean and comfortable room;
- free wifi;
- garage;
- friendly personnell at the counter;

CONs:
- poor range of bath amenities and room service menu (working only till 10 pm if I am not mistaken);
- no slippers;
- poor choice of english speaking channels on TV (cant even recall that we found even one);
- some staff behavior (we had to move the dates of staying although we made pre-paid booking and my friend had to listen a whole sermon as of why she should not have done so and that he is doing a big favor for us - she was on the verge of hunging up and booking another hotel... another issue I personally encountered when I tried to acquire a confirmation that I was staying in this Hotel for my Accure account - the communication wasnt pleasurable - either in written or verbal (tried to speak in French, though it was hard for me and when I asked to switch into English I was put on eternal hold....)

If not those two irritating incidents I would rate it much higher, because in the Hotel itself our staying was a real pleasure.

The hotel is right in the centre of Calais. Of importance if you have a vehicle is the secure parking at the rear. The rooms are small with the bed taking up most of the space. There would be only 300mm between the end of the bed and the desk. The facia on all the furniture is made of metal with the mitred corners proud by approximately 5mm. One could easily do damage to one self as the corners are quite sharp. The bathroom had a smell of wet linen. Fortunately I was able to open the window. Once the window was closed the smell returned. Obviously water has got under the tiles. The staff were efficient and very friendly. The buffet breakfast was excellent.

Hotel in good location on the main road in centre of calais. Check in was fast and efficient but as a platinum member there was no mention of this or benefits. The room was slightly on the small side but adequate, the main fact was it was clean with a good shower and amenities. Last time we stayed here parking was free but it is now 15 euros so we parked on a public car park. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was a little noisy on a Saturday night, so ask for a room at the back if this would bother you. We didn't take breakfast which would have been 15 euros extra so can't comment on that. All in all a good stay and thank you to the man on reception, think his name was Abdula or similar for being very accommodating. We would stay again.

Whilst travelling back from Germany to get the Euro-Tunnel found ourselves needing to find a hotel last minute. We found this on www.lastminute.com and as it was 10pm that it was. The hotel is on a main Street in Calais with many restaurants around it, but the hotel is modern, very clean and noise free we was on the first floor overlooking the street. The room itself was modern & well decorated and comfortable, but was the smallest twin I had ever been in. It did the job for us last minute check in & only one night - reasonably priced although at full price would have been a bit expensive in my opinion especially as you have to pay for parking and breakfast. I would stay there again as a one or two night stock over but any longer this would just be to small. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety. The three members of staff we meet on our short stay were very pleasant and helpful.
