Friendly staff, clean room. Good shower. Down side, walls are very thin, no soundproofing. Did not like adjoining door although obviously locked. great location for ferry. Would definitely stay again.

Right on the beach this newly modernized hotel has masses of seating area to enjoy a drink or a meal looking out to sea at the passing ferries or at the crazy golf.
The evening meal we had was not only excellent value but extremely well prepared and presented.
The bedrooms hare bigger and better appointed than Ibis, offering bath AND a wardrobe!!
However they are painted in very strong pastel shades and we went from purple to lime green to pale blue and chose royal blue.
The manager could not have been more attentive or accommodating.
Parking is no problem and breakfast at 7.5 euros is not overpriced by today standards.

Stayed here going down and back to/from Chinon, returning April 10th.Tried other budget stopovers from Calais to Rouen . All been ok - but this is by far the best . Spotless, really kind staff, dog friendly - to the extent that when we rolled in late from Tunnel (wish that was half a good a service!) they actually brought a meal to our room as the dog could not be left.House red vfm, evening food ok,very good breakfast ( fresh fruit salad!!) .Small field at back for dogs plus the beach ( out of season).
Why not 5 ? Hubby found the room a little cold , no plug in bath - all things that would easily be sorted but was not worth pestering for one night.Won't stay anywhere else while this is sustained.
Many thanks to the kind staff - whole team just great.

Room Tip: Room 46 has a third bed in a separate room tho have to go through double to bathroom . Still vgfm fo...

As always the Hotel de la Plage (formally the Kyriad), Calais, was warm, comfortable and welcoming. The food and service was excellent. Ludovic and Salvin looked after us very well. The room was compact, but very clean, English TV with hospitality items. Only drawback was the water pressure but change the shower head setting, this made a difference. Plenty of car parking, a very nice place to stop and relax to charge your batteries for the next phase of your journey. Do eat at this restaurant, the locals do so it must be good.:)

Always try to stay here when getting the wine in Calais! Rooms comfortable and clean, restaurant very good with friendly and attentive staff. A good bet whatever your budget .As is said ,why pay more?I have reviewed this hotel before, but there really is ,(as we tried recently) anywhere else that comes close.

I elected to stay some distance away from Rue Royale/Place d'Armes because of the (seemingly interminable) construction in that area. A bad decision.

I'm willing to concede that Hotel De La Plage is probably a good bet in the summer when the weather encourages families to make use of the excellent beach facilities but on my last visit the bitterly cold conditions were matched by a horribly cold, dark and bare room. The tiny wall-mounted heater struggled to supply any tangible warmth and I seriously contemplated getting into the ridiculously hard bed fully clothed,

Checking out was tiresomely lengthy as there was nobody on the reception desk and the credit card machine - rather like the "wi-fi throughout" - was in a state of "marche pas".

Maybe I will try again when the weather improves but, frankly, unless they improve both their infrastructure and service, I probably won't. One for the (very) hardened traveller on a budget I think.

We stay at the Hotel de la Plage (ex Kyriad) several times a year, to break our journey between Switzerland and the UK. Simple, clean, friendly- with pleasant bar and restaurant. Easy parking - and if you have a dog, ask for a room at the back and you can park right by your bedroom with door to car and field at the back for exercising (PLEASE PICK UP- sadly some do not!), and minutes from the Ferry or Tunnel.

Buffet breakfast is fine, and staff always friendly and attentive. We will continue to stay there every time we make the trip.

Room Tip: Only criticism is that some people who smoke leave the butts all over the place and those are not re...
