My wife and I, late 60s, spent four nights here, twin room. Despite some most off-putting internet reviews it really wasn't too bad! Yes, rooms are cramped with little storage space. Decor pretty jaded but the rooms, bedding and ensuite were basically clean. Rated a a one-star hotel the prices are relatively cheap. Breakfast, for a modest extra sum, and from 6.30 a.m. onwards (for early onward travellers) was buffet style and ample - fresh croissants, baguettes and toast, with cereals, cheese, preserves, yogurts and quite good coffee. Reception manned throughout day by most obliging staff. Ample on site parking. Next to Ibis Hotel which offered good evening meals. Bus link round corner to central Calais.
We hope to try out the two or three-star Balladins hotels next time in France.
