The restaurant is attached to but separately managed from the Hotel Meurice and is one of the better restaurants in this part of France. There is an a la carte menu and three set menus at 20, 25 and 35 Euros. We opted for the 25 Euro menu where the starter was an inspired combination of foie gras and warmed langoustine on a perfectly dressed bed of crisp salad. The cod main course came with an impressive array of contrasting vegetables which were so well cooked that you could forgive the slightly over elaborate presentation.
We were also treated to some accidental cabaret from the large function room next door where local rotary style groups were meeting. Service in the restaurant was excellent , considering that the waitress was also serving canapes for the meeting next door. At the end of the meal, she showed us how to sneak through the function room and back to the hotel without having to brave the freezing weather outside.
Would highly recommend this restaurant, and indeed the pleasingly old fashioned Hotel Meurice, should you find yourself in Calais.
