“Exceptional food at low prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We learned about this place from Michelin and came here, finally, on the third night of our three-night stay in Amiens. We wish we had had another evening here. The cooking was of uniformly high quality and achieved success even in some fairly complicated and innovative dishes. Particularly good: meat dishes and dessert. The four-course menu is just 28 Euros, extraordinarily low for food of this quality. Service was friendly and competent, ambience casual in true bistro fassion. The wine list can get fairly expensive but there are 25cl and 50cl carafes as well as a number of bottles under 30 Euros. Can't recommend it too highly, and can't wait to go back.

“Fantastic find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

Amazing food and wine. Set menu fantastic value. Found via michelin guide- almost didn't go in as in very dodgy looking street. Restaurant itself lovely though and very glad gave it a go!

“Interesting twists on classic French cuisine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

Try some of the more exotic dishes like crunchy pigs to
trotters
The chef has a sure touch and produces many excellent dishes
The wine list is also good if a little pricey

“Le Bouchon - a local experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2011

We went here on the advice of the owner of the cafe across from the Mercure, as we asked him for a good place that was truly local. Well, this one is - we went at lunch and it was full, mostly of local businessmen and they seemed to be enjoying themselves no end. It was pretty obvious that many come here all the time. We did want a proper local experience but it was a bit difficult translating the menu as many of the dishes were local specialities so not in our basic French dictionaries. We got the set menu which was good value at €18 and unlike many of the other comments here, we thought the service was very professional. It was hot though, as someone else said and when we were there it wasn't that hot outside.
Unfortunately we ended up not enjoying our meals overall, but still don't regret going. On hindsight should have picked a la carte (though much more expensive) and only had 1 course. Both our starters were nice - but rich - mine was basically cheese deepfried in brick (kind of like philo) the size of your average spring/egg roll with a small side salad. Nice but wow, and then I got pork knuckle with lentils. It was good but again rich and they gave me the whole knuckle, so it was just too much. My husband got the andouille sausage - for those of you who have been (or live in) to New Orleans, this is NOT the one you know and love. It is local and basically is a sausage made of tripe. Now I did try to warn him, as it was in one of our books but he usually eats anything so he went for it (the other option being veal tongue) and was he ever sorry. It did come with a lovely dauphinois but again that was very rich. The sausage was just how you would imagine - must be an acquired taste! Then came the most interesting cheese course which one can only describe as fresh ricotta but then they gave us the most extrodinary sugar shaker (like an antique one) and though I don't like sweet things, once you tasted it with the suger, it lifted it to another level. We were so full but then desert came - me fresh fruit and it was just that so I was happy - nice and light and my husband's pear pudding was really nice too.
So all in all a memorable experience but probably one we wouldn't return to.
