“Should not be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

We were delighted to be able to go through the home of this famous author and poet. It is excellently presented and we were given a booklet in English to be able to follow the displays. We were disappointed that it was not possible to purchase any publications in English at the shop located in the centre and surprised that it closed for 2 hours every day from noon till 2pm

“If you love Capt. Nemo & Around the World in 80 Days”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

I grew up with Jules Verne, reading almost everything he wrote which took me far from rural Georgia. It was an interesting experience to walk through the house where much of this was written. It tells his story well. If you are not a fan of Verne, there are probably more interesting things to do in Amiens.

“A great Novelist”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

A wonderful way to spend the morning, particularly interesting if you are a fan of Jules Vernes books which have later been scripted for movies. Four floors of memorabilia to commemorate a prosperous life. Although I would have liked to see it in a more original state, it was beautifully laid out, with each level telling a story of a part of his life.

“Adorable House Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

It is a small museum, but it is well kept and has a lot of character. It is not all original...as a matter of fact I think only 2 of the rooms are in their original state, but there is a ton of memorabilia on display. The guided audio tour was fun and had a lot of information. I recommend it, since it's a relatively short tour, otherwise. It is close to town and it is easy to walk there from the train station or the cathedral. About a 10 minute walk from/to either place. I had a big bag and asked the front desk to hold it, and they were very sweet about it.

I would recommend it. No pictures allowed.

“An Insight into the Life of a Great Author”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

The house, built on about 4 floors is full of memorabilia of JV's life. I guess he was the J K Rowling of his day. He also played an important part in civic life. Many original editions are displayed together with models of his imagined flying machines. The top floor is a mock-up of his sailing ship.
