“A must for "Birdsong" readers”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

Anyone who has read Sebastian Faulks' book should treat themselves to a boat ride around this natural area which has little to mark it as being substantially different to the way it was 100 years ago . Atmospheric and picturesque. Another dimension to a town so rich in history .

Beautiful, well priced boat trip with very pleasant guide and front of house staff. Well organised. Calm and tranquil - well worth a visit.

“A wonderful oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012 via mobile

A little bit outside the city centre but well worth a visit. A boat with a guide takes you round the various gardens. It's wonderfully quiet and tranquil. Our guide spoke a little English and had a dry sense of humour. Good value for money.

“Unexpected find!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

These medieval "floating" market gardens were a lovely surprise to find in Amiens. The boat ride lasted about an hour and wound through some truly beautiful and unique scenery. It was a very relaxing way to spend an hour. The only downside was that the boat guides seem to only speak French so, with our basic command of that language, we only understood half of what was being said. I'd recommend booking a boat time ahead of schedule. We turned up off the street and had quite a lengthy wait as groups of pre-booked parties (full of Parisian retirees on day tours) boarded ahead of us.

“Surprising”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2012

Somebody told me about Les Hortillonnages: please spend one hour to do this you will not regret it. This is a very good way to discover this part of the city. You are six to 8 persons seated in a small boat and going throughout all the canals seeing flowers, beautiful trees, and beautiful houses . yes this activity is wheelchair accessible if you use a manual wheelchair and you are not afraid by the big hill to reach the quay... The "captain" will help you to board with your wheelchair.
