“So hard to get in!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We stayed here for 1 night. As we approached MSM we noticed boom gates with a key pad entry. We pressed the help button but someone spoke very fast in French saying we needed to get an 'access code' and just hung up. Took us nearly an hour to go find a park, find a telephone to call the hotel and drive all the way back to enter the key code. I discovered an email a few days later that they had sent (all in French) giving a code for entry. THEY REALLY NEED TO ADVISE YOU THAT YOU WILL NEED A CODE SO YOU CAN KEEP A LOOK OUT FOR THE EMAIL. It was such an inconvenience and we wasted precious sightseeing time. The restaurant was lovely and we enjoyed a meal after a long day. The breakfast was buffet. MSM was amazing and made the whole ordeal worth it.

We were a bit last minute booking this and were told by the hotel that we had got the last room! Glad we did! The room was modern clean and comfortable at the back of the hotel overlooking the estuary. The bathroom with bath, glass shower panel and good shower had plenty of space for toiletries and the WC was separate. A little table, bench and good sized comfortable stool in one corner of the room was excellent for our use of the laptop and would also have been good if breakfasting in our room. However the buffet petit dejeuner was very good with a choice of cold meats, cheeses, eggs to boil as well as hard boiled eggs, lots of croissants, bread, cereals etc.
To get into this area it is necessary to have a code as car parking is generally in a variety of enormous car parks outside. We parked outside the hotel. We walked to the mount - c. 30 minutes and took one of the free shuttle buses back. A lovely location - well worth the stop. We also had dinner here and whilst it was well presented and good ingredients, it was not just as good as our logis in St. Jean de Monts - but very acceptable nonetheless.

Room Tip: As there is an absence of traffic after 8pm at night, this is a very quiet location, but back rooms...

Our trip to Mont Saint Michel was planed using Tripadvisor Reviews. We can confirm that Le Relais du roy hotel is a very good choice. Nice and clean rooms, with confortable beds and friendly staff. The breakfast was good. Good location and very good prices.

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms with front view are great.

A very clean slightly spartan hotel very close to Mont St. Michel. The hotel sits very close to a tram stop that takes you to Mont St. Michel. Beds were comfortable. The setting is nice and the restaurant very good. Free wifi. However, no air conditioning. No problem in October, but may be an issue in July and August. Can't comment on pricing as we were on a bus tour. However, the pricing at the front desk appeared to be around 80 euro for two.

if you are planning to go to st michael and wants to stay just a short period of time, a coupe of nights tops, this is a very nice place near the mount itself, but outside the isle and therefore less expensive. it responds to the high rating by cleaness and steadyness . Rooms are large enough, and confortable. Is not a location to stay indoors , so it works. The meaning of my trip was to be able to visit the mount st. michael during the day and come back to sleep and shower, and it worked very well. There is a shuttle to take you there and it offers some spots for parking also, if you come by car. I do not think it is fitted for a longer stay, dough.

Room Tip: the higher the floor, the more difficult to get you lugagge there.

I chose this hotel due to its proximity and relatively high rating. We were not disappointed. We had a room on the top floor. You should be prepared to carry your luggage up several flights of stairs. You cannot lay in bed and gaze upon the Mont, because this hotel and probably all the others are situated so that all the rooms are perpendicular to the Mont. You do have a nice view of the river from the hotel window. You can go out on the balcony and turn around to get a glimpse of the Mont, but it is so much better to walk from the hotel to Mont at night and take the shuttle bus back. It is surrealistic experience. The surprising aspect of this hotel was the restaurant, whose food was aesthetically presented and tasty. However, the service is extremely slow, so plan to spend up to two hours. The tricky thing about the hotel is the parking space. There are a few spaces in front of the hotel, but to get to them you need to pass through a gate quite a way up the road before you reach the hotel. I saw people calling from the gate and I guess the hotel has a way to open the gate for you. Otherwise, you need to park your car quite a distance and drag your luggage to the hotel. We were lucky and got through the gate by chance. There are stops for the shuttle bus a little ways before and after the hotel.

We chose this hotel mainly due to its location. The shuttle bus to the foot of Mont Saint Michel is just across the hotel (or you can walk there, of course, takes about 30 mins). Despite its location, the hotel lack ambience.
Parking is available but limited. Request from the hotel to get the code. We didn't get a spot right in front of the hotel, but at a nearby hotel instead. Lots of tour group staying in the area. Although our room was just next to the staircase, it was ok.
