Our family of four had lunch March 22, 2009 at l"Arbre a Pin. It was recommended to us by a local - always a good sign.
The restaurant can be entered from the beach side or off the main street, shopping side. The tables on the front have the animation of shoppers going by and all the color off the main street. The dining room on the beach side is wonderful in that the roof is glass and it is flooded with sunlight. There are two levels. We were seated in the upper level near the bar and we still had a beach view. There is a dining area outside that was closed when we visited but it must be fabulous in warm weather.
The restaurant is nicely decorated in a very trendy Italtian bistro style. It could use a coat of paint to touch up what was once quite sharp. There is alot of art on the walls and it is a very colorful place.
The food was really good. I had an Italian Salad that was just the right size for a meal. It had an odd combination of pickles and coppa among other things. I thought this would be strange but it was quite good. My husband had a Brittany Bundle (rough translation!) which is a buckwheat crepe stuffed with various items. His was stuffed with scallops and salmon in a cream sauce. He was thrilled with it. Our children each had carbonara and they lapped it up in no time.
The restaurant serves crepes with a variety of toppings. I had a Cafe Gourmand which was a coffee with a brownie, a small cup of vanilla ice cream topped with whipped cream, a chocolate and two cookies. Very nice ending to a meal.
The prices are very correct. Our server was a young guy who was all smiles and was efficient. We talked on and off with the owner (or manager) at the bar as he was working. He was quite friendly.
