“Great Position”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2012

An attractive hotel with good views of the Hippodrome races. Great pool and a restaurant on site.
A well stocked breakfast buffet each morning, which had bacon, scrambled eggs and sausage if required. The building will need some painting and tidying in not too long to keep it attractive to guests. Can recommend, and would stay again. Three minutes to centre of town and it's attractions.

Room Tip: Choose a room facing the Hippodrome for entertainment value!

My wife and I have been using this Hotel as base for visiting Normany over many years and usually book a weekend package inclusive of ferry which make this a very economical break.
Rooms have recently been redocorated (we had room 26 on the ground floor) which found to be excellent. TV, Fridge and a better size of bathroom than many hotels we have stayed in.
The reception staff are efficient and friendly - bar available and small breakfast room.
Dont usually have breakfast and go into Cabourg for its excellent choice of bars and restaurants.

We had stayed at this hotel several times before, but was disappointed this time as the pool area was far from clean.

Also, we were woken at 3am by a party in a nearby room. We complained but not take too seriously.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the race course.

My wife and I stayed here for one night on our way to Falaise from Ouistreham. We only used the room and walked into town for dinner (a lovely little seaside town with plenty of small cafes and restaurants). We also didn't use the hotel for breakfast, but its cafe/restaurant did not look very exciting.
The room itself, at the end of a ground floor corridor was booked on the internet and we can only assume that it was the cheapest, because although clean it was poorly ventilated and when we opened the window for fresh air, the noise of the air conditioning unit was so loud that we had to close it again. The bathroom was clean but some of its fittings were not going to last much longer.
Overall, a reasonable overnight stop hotel, but probably geared to visitors to the racecourse over the road.

Room Tip: Some rooms are on the ground floor and near to a noisy air con unit, so choose a room with good vent...

This is a clean and comfortable budget hotel in a quiet largely residential spot overlooking the racetrack. Excellent discounts were obtained by staying as part of a larger group and booking through a tour operator.

The breakfasts are above average however the bar prices (small beer €2.5) and evening meal price are ridiculously expensive. The town is only a 10-15 minute walk with a wide choice of very good restaurants so the walk is certainly worthwhile!

Staff can seem a bit grumpy but never the less, it’s a comfortable place to break your journey.

Overall Hotel was good, rooms clean and with good facilities, the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on in a hotel. So good we didn't wake up to 11a.m! The Pool and Gym were excellent. The only downside was the limited choice of Television Channels, BBC World News is a bit like Groundhog day.A reasonable walk to Cabourg 15mins, although the Restaurants were a bit disappointing.

Hotel is in a quiet location opposite the racetrack. Room was a good size with tea and coffee making facilities but tv was only european channels, apart from bbc international news. Much of the wall coverings had bubbled off the walls but this did not detract from the room quality. Bathroom roomy and clean. Breakfast is overpriced.
