“Terrific”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Located just across from the station, Hotel des Ducs is easy to find. We booked via the booking.com link on Tripadvisor and were really pleased with the room (No.22). We were allocated a triple bedded room (even though there was just the two of us) and it was huge. Bathroom was lovely. Nice decor throughout the hotel, spotlessly clean and it provided a welcome rest on our journey back from Cap Ferret. Five minutes walk and you're in the centre of Alencon. Would happily stay here again. Thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Wifi signal was weak in our room (No.22)

Easy to get to from the A28, in Alencon opposite the station at the corner of Rue Denis Papin and Avenue Wilson, this hotel is well located on the route south from the channel ports or west from Paris to the west coast. Secure car parking is available in the courtyard behind the hotel ( keypad operated gateway - obtain code from reception.
Good: smart, practical, and clean; spacious rooms; secure parking; short walk to attractive historical town centre with good choice of restaurants; free wi-fi.
Average: buffet breakfast.
Not so good: closed 13:30 to 16:00 and 21:00 to 06:00 -- entry during these periods with keypad code; wi-fi signal periodically too weak and intermittent.

We stayed here en route back from Toulouse to Calais to break the journey up.
This took around 7 half hours with breaks so was a great pit stop with rough 3 half hours to Calais.

Good central location in Alencon, literally opposite the train station, a couple of petrol stations a stone throw away. The town centre was within walking distance and quite pleasant.

We stayed on the second floor, we had our own travel cot and there was plenty of room for this. The bathroom was nice and clean and the shower had a decent pressure.

The garden/parking area at the rear was very secure and really well maintained.

Probably the only downer on this was the lack of restaurant, but the nearby restaurant was quite reasonbly priced (but check the prices before agreeing to a house sangria - 5.8 EUR I later discovered :0 )

Would stay again.

Room Tip: The second floor was a bit of a pain with having a baby and all paraphernalia , so I would ask for a...

From start to finish our stay was perfect. Free secure car parking and a warm welcome. Stayed in room 11 which has a lovely view over the well maintained rear garden. A well modernised room with good shower facilities. Our recent stay was during a very hot few days and we slept with the windows open but do not suffer from any disturbance due to noise. Our departure was enhanced by a good breakfast served for an additional 8 Euros per head.

Room Tip: It is worth asking for a garden view.

Private free parking! An excellent start to our 2 night stay in Alencon. Room - adequate size, nicely decorated. A very welcoming receptionist. No external noises. Could walk into Alencon, a very old city - small and interesting. Great shops too, especially with the sales on. Ate out at a reasonably priced restaurant with plenty of choice and turned out to be No.1 with Trip Advisor reviewers. A lovely short stay.

My wife and I and our 2 Tibetan Terriers stayed here for one night on our way home to England from southern France. It has recently been refurbished to a high standard and we had a spacious triple room which was immaculate with a lovely view over the enclosed garden. Secure free parking is available on site and the owners speak very good english. The hotel is located opposite the station and is very quiet. It is within easy walking distance of the town with its impressive architecture and a good selection of restaurants, bars and shops. We enjoyed people watching while sitting outside the bar opposite the lovely sixteenth century church before strolling around the beautifully restored old town, enjoying the many sights.

Very pleasant hotel. Easy to find from motorway. Its opposite the railway station but it was not noisy. The staff were very friendly, not english speaking. Breakfast was good. They did not have a restaurant for evening meal so we walked into the centre of the town, which was under 10 mins. Plenty of choice in centre. It was early Friday evening so quiet. Great stop over location as about 3 hours from Calais. They have secure parking which was not charged.
