After crossing from Dover to Boulogne we booked a 1 night stay at this hotel. Travelling to the hotel took 10 minutes from the port and was easy to find. We paid 8 Euros to park the car securely but if you are travelling light then there are some free car park spaces opposite the hotel.

The hotel was clean and comfortable.

We took a trip advisor's advice and turned right out of the hotel to find a restaurant. We ate at Chez Jules which was lovely and not too expensive.

Breakfast was adequate and set us on our way for the rest of our journey

Yet another stay at this hotel - have been using it for many years now. Still reasonable value for money - handy for the town and the many shops and restaurants. Indoor Shopping arcade and supermarket accessible through rear private door from bar area.
The staff, most of whom have been there for many years, are very friendly and efficient.
Would recommend booking a river-view room if possible - the rooms are all functional, although one or two of them could now do with a little re-decoration.
Underground payable parking, although you can can park across the road from the hotel free of charge (maybe room for about 8 cars).
Perfectly adequate breakfasts, but have never used the restaurant in the evenings, so unable to comment on dinner.

My wife and I first stayed at this Hotel in December 2002 and have stayed there several times since. Boulogne makes a nice change from Calais for Christmas shopping in the area and is convenient for a number of other locations. We've always found the food to be ok and the staff friendly. The hotel may be a little worn, but is still good value for a few nights and has a good location. I'd agree with other comments about how good the food is in some of the local restaurants, in particular Chez Jules and Le Welsh Pub, both of which are only a short walk up the hill. Boulogne has a nice friendly atmosphere, with good cafes and bars and there are several nice walks, such as around the old walled town. The sea life and marine centre Naussica, is also always well worth a visit.

We have stayed here on at least 5 occasions in the last 4 years and knew what to expect. The rooms at the front of the Hotel have a good view over the river but the rooms are smallish and get stuffy so you may need to open the double glazed window at night. The main road outside is very noisy and deliverys to the hotel start early in the morning. The rooms are clean but basic and sadly no effort appears to have been made to improve the hotel since we first stayed there. However it is conveniently situated and only a 5 minute walk to the town shops and restaurants. In addition there are plenty of shops, cafes etc in a shopping mall which is part of the hotel complex, including a Champion supermarket. The underground car park used to be free but they now charge for this, however you can come and go as many times as you like in 24hrs with just one ticket. The hotel's cafe offers a Dinner service from 6pm to last orders at 10pm (close at 1030pm), we sat down at 9.45pm and the staff were not happy! The fish meal I had was the worst I have ever experienced anywhere in France in 40 years. My wife had Duck which was OK. I suggest you try Chez Jules (10 minute walk) for a decent meal with good service and open from Noon to Midnight. This is were the local French eat.
