My husband and I stayed here in September 2007 for two nights on our way back from Lake Como. Having stayed in a really grotty hotel somewhere in Eastern France the night before, this was a wonderful end to our holiday. It was really easy to find and we were able to park easily too. Franck greeted us at the door and showed us around his fantastic house. We had the Angel Room (first floor at the front) and it was just beautiful. Wonderful furnishings, lovely wooden floors and a superb shower room. Little things like fresh-smelling towels and linen, plus nice toiletries, made it even nicer.
In the breakfast room we were shown where all the teas and coffees were and told to just help ourselves anytime we fancied a drink. Very naughty chocolate cakes were also provided which was a nice touch. There was a lovely lounge to sit in also, with books and CD's and a piano. It looked out onto a little courtyard garden and over to Franck and Isabelle's own house.
Breakfast was superb with fresh bread and croissants and homemade jams. Franck will cook you bacon and eggs if you fancy it. Lots of fresh coffeee and freshly squeezed orange juice too (really delicious!).
Arras is a nice town, easy to walk around as it is mostly flat, and there is a lot to see in the town as well as in the surrounding countryside. Plenty of restaurants although I think vegetarians would be a bit limited. There are a few Italian restaurants near the B&B which are a better alternative if you don't eat meat or fish. Also, the Japanese restaurant around the corner is very good (turn left out of the front door and turn left again at the corner, follow the road down and the restaurant is just across the road on the right).
I would definitely return to La Corne D'or and will recommend it to lots of people. Franck and Isabelle put a huge amount of effort into their business and they deserve every success. It really is 5 star!
PS. Franck, sorry France got knocked out of the Rugby!!!!
