Monsieur Philippe Caillet is a great host.
We stayed at this small and charming hotel for 2 nights at the end of April. Our room, on the third floor, had recently been renovated. It had a comfortable double bed, a writing desk and a sofa with a great view of the town square Place des Héros, as well as a tiny bathroom with shower only.
Just a tip, the hotel has no gym, but the stairmaster to the third floor sure makes up for it! So keep in mind to pack light.
The breakfast is served downstairs behind the reception area and was simply perfect. Monsieur Caillet serves excellent coffee, fresh croissants and baguettes, various jams, cheeses, local delicacies, yogurts, fruits, cereals, etc. It was definitely worth the price.
Free internet is available, but beware of the European keyboard.
Our main attraction was to visit Vimy, Ypres and the battlefields. We found Arras to be a charmingly typical French little town. On Saturday morning we woke up to find the local merchants preparing for market day! What a wonderful experience. Monsieur Caillet told us it goes on every Wednesday and Saturday morning rain or shine and has for over 900 years. The only problem for parking the car comes up at this point as the Place des Héros square is used for the market. Monsieur Caillet will gladly direct you to parking.
We definitely recommend this little gem in Arras and would not hesitate to return.
