Stayed 3 nights at end of June 2007 as part of 54 seater coach on tour of 1st world War battlefields. This was our 14th tour in succession and easily the best hotel we have used. Previously we have used Ibis hotels which were also good.
Unlike other Accor group hotels the reception was always available, bar staff always available.
Breakfast was excellent.
The only drawback was coach parking--very limited at rear of hotel and often cars parked "illegally"
We had to use parking in the Grand Place.
Arras is lovely town for all ages to enjoy---lots of good resturants and bars to enjoy.
We have already booked for 2008 for 6 nights.

“Standard hotel-great town”

We stayed here as a base to visit my great grandfathers memorial and also to visit the Somme. The hotel was a standard budget hotel-the rooms were clean and simple. The access from the underground parking was not very good. You had to go up in the lift then go outside, up the street and then back into you hotel. All because there were several stairs between the lift and reception so no good with luggage or if you are elderly/disabled. The only other gripe was that as we had travelled from Australia I would have liked to have ironed some of our very creased clothes. The hotel has only ONE iron and whenever we asked it was elsewhere. Unbelievable for a big chain like Mercure not to be able to splash out on a few cheap irons to keep guests happy. The hotel was in a good location within a few mins walk to the old centre and Arras itself was a delight. There were hardly any tourists around and so was very quiet. It is a very pretty town with 2 beautiful Squares surronded by lovely old buildings. We had a great meal at Les Grandes Arcades and sat looking out at the Square wondering where everyone was.

We stayed there 2 nights Friday 30 July to Sunday 1 August. It was very quiet, being a weekend and the start of the French holiday season. The hotel can almost be seen from the railway station and is within 100 metres walk. So well situated. Rooms were typical basic style of Mercure group. Bathroom was separate from WC. Good breakfast buffet (EUR 11) including a feature of interesting regional foods. Hotel has many meeting rooms. Parking is outside in an underground parking though, with plenty of street parking, we saw no one use it. The First World War site at Vimy can be reached by 91 Bus from Gare Routiere (turn LEFT out of hotel; not right, to Gare de Bus) to Thelus, and then 4 Km walk! Underground tour in city town hall well worth while. Some good restaurants like Faisanderie. Overall, Arras made for a pleasant weekend break.

A centrally located hotel with underground public parking- discounted if you stay in the hotel. Impressive foyer with a bar and sometimes if you are lucky, live music but the rooms are a good size and standard.
The phones in the room did not work properly but the windows are fantastic-they open fully and on a warm night, you can open the window, lie back on the bed, gaze at the moon and stars and pretend you are camping. 5 minute walk to the Grand Place and eating places. Arras is a good place to base yourself if you are doing the WW1 battlefield and cemetries. We would stay in this hotel again if we came to Arras.
