“Millay viaduct”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

Stunning piece of modern engineering. Definitely worth a detour and a visit to the visitor centre. There is also a very interesting Troglodyte village below the viaduct called Peyre which is worth a look too.

“French Excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Millau Viaduct is a masterpiece of engineering and a spectacular feature in the countryside just outside of the town of Millau. The Viaduct has its own visitors center with video presentations of the building of the viaduct as well as gifts and souvenirs. (from French, for a remembrance or memory) The area around Millau has much to offer those who want rugged nature and interesting places to visit such as the cheese making in the caves in Roquefort or the studio of sculptor André Debru, who makes amazing sculptures from scrap iron and metals. There are numerous camping sites in and around Millau and it is a short trip south to the seaside at Sete,

“Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This bridge has been talked about, written about, appeared in films (go Mr Bean!) and had so much hype that frankly, I thought it would be a let down. How wrong I was. It is so beautiful and so improbable. If you have the chance to drive that way and see it, make sure you do.

“Amazing engineering”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

There are 2 'espaces info', one at either end of the viaduct: the one nearest the town is underneath, between piers 3 & 4. It's free and open every day - there are models on display and an informative film (you can ask for an English version). You can also buy souvenirs. For 6E you can do a guided visit (in French) that takes you into the 'jardin des explorateurs' - worth doing if your French is good enough to cope with engineering jargon. You also get an amazing view over the river valley.

“Stunning”

A really majestic piece of viaduct buiding.
British designed, French built. Tres bon.
The town of Millau is great as well and chose a restaurant in the centre by the fountain for lunch.
