“Fantastic base for a cycling holiday for this part of the Pyranees.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

Not really much to add from the previous positive reviews. We stayed with a group for a week, enjoying the numerous rides that can easily be done from this base. The hotel was full of cyclists and it is easy to see why. The accommodation is clean and more then adequate, representing very good value, though the upstairs rooms are generally nicer, larger, lighter and quieter. The staff are extremely friendly, helpful and obliging, the food is very good and plentiful and the hotel is generally geared to meet the need of us cycling nuts. There is a small well priced bar for pre dinner drinks and one observation felt by many of our group is that the wine selection could be better.
Thanks Philipe, family and staff for a wonderful stay.

My son and I stayed for three nights. Philip made us feel like we were the first guests he'd ever had. A personal tour which included excellent bike storage, bike cleaning, somewhere to wash your kit - and even a shower which you could use the day you checked out before moving on. The cyclists menu was very welcome and the food was a very good standard. Probably due to Philip's influence there was a great friendliness between the guests. The room was very good too.
Congratulations on a wonderful establishment - we hope we will be able to come back soon.

Room Tip: One with a balcony might be better for you

Phillipe and his team provide a great and friendly service for cyclists. From the bike storage area to the carb loaded meals, it is an excellent base for riding the Pyreneen tour greats. We stayed for 5 nights, rooms great, and the village is excellent for enjoying a well deserved end of ride beer and watching the world go by.

Stayed at the Au Primerose for a week's cycling in June.
Phillippe and his staff were all five star ! The service and welcome far exceeded our expectations and was indeed better than a five star hotel I recently stayed at in Hong Kong and that takes some doing.
The hotel was simple but very clean.
Would not hesitate to go back.

My wife and I stayed at the Au Primrose for 3 nights, as a base to explore the surrounding area. We chose this hotel because of several very positive reviews this hotel had been given - and were extremely happy with our decision.

The whole hotel is extremely clean and the rooms are well appointed.

The manager was extremely helpful in giving as excellent suggestions how to maximize the things to see and do during our 3 days we were visiting the area.

The only comment we would make regarding the room we were allotted, was that the bathroom was very small.

We definitely would use this hotel again, if we should visit the area sometime in the future.

The checking-in time was already over when we arrived in the hotel, but the owner was kind enough to still let us in (thank you again for your understanding Philippe!). The hotel was cozy and very clean, just lovely actually. The rooms were a bit outdated, quite small (especially the bathroom) and everything was weirdly pink, but no matter, it was all charming and the room affordable. We also had a own little balcony which was nice. The breakfast was continental and the breakfast staff always very friendly and smiling. The owner was (truly!) friendly and helpfull, and spoke excellent English. The perfect host, you might say.

We stayed at the hotel only for three nights and meant to hike but the weather was horrible - it was cold, rainy and so foggy that you almost couldn´t see where you are. We still had a wonderful time in the French Pyrenees, the people and the countless little villages were just so lovely. Anyway, Argeles-Gazost is a good base for hiking.

Be aware that the hotel is filled with cyclists, hikers and old people: everybody goes to sleep at 10 PM and after that you have to keep quiet. Oh, and a restaurant tip: do visit the Restaurant Le Petit Patrimoine near the hotel!

We stayed at the Primerose for 10 days in Aug-Sept 2011 and had a fantastic time. Aside from being a perfect location for cycling the famous climbs of the Tour de France and great hiking, Philippe and his staff were awesome. We chose the half-board option and were very pleased with the willingness to accommodate our vegetarian needs. We certainly did not go hungry! Philippe provided lots of good info on the cycling routes and also loaned us 4 different hiking guides. The secure storage room is great for hanging your bike and storing your travel case and accessories. Our room was great - better than a standard 2 star. All in all, a recipe for a great trip.
