The Chateau is in a beautiful setting and is incredibly peaceful. We had a suite on the river side of the main chateau. The decor and furniture are quite eclectic - a mix of various items of different period furniture, modern paintings and unusual ornaments, but this all seems to work together rather well! The bed was comfortable and the two bathrooms (including a lovely bath in a turret) perfectly adequate, but there was no full length mirror in the bedroom or bathrooms and unfortunately we could smell cigarette smoke coming into our room from the kitchen staff smoking area which was just below our windows.
We chose to eat in the restaurant on our first night, but found the food a little disappointing and a bit bizarre. The menu featured some rather strange combinations (eg, foie gras, grilled lettuce, strawberry and radish on one plate, dressed with duck jus !!!) and I did have to send a lamb dish back as it was burnt. However, the staff were quite charming. Breakfast was very good indeed.
The hotel staff were extremely friendly and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble!
The grounds are lovely - the pool looked very inviting and there is a walk along the Tarn that is very pleasant indeed.
I would definitely return!
