“Stay here!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2009

Thank you Travel Advisor!! I am so glad we read reviews before our trip. We followed recommendations by Travel Advisor and were so happy we did! Hotel le Cottage was great! Its location was perfect - in town but a short/easy walk to the beach (even our cab drivers commented on its perfect location). Rooms were (very!) clean and comfortable. The staff absolutely bent over backwards for us. Service here was outstanding. Yummy breakfast in the AM (for an extra charge but worth it). The grounds are gorgeous. Huge (heated!) pool which was super clean and never crowded. Nice hot tub (one part of the pool and another inside). Mini golf and table tennis outside. We will be coming back - this hotel was amazing - and it is very reasonable price-wise too.

Stayed for just over a week on holiday, very nice Hotel out of the main resort. Lovely pool area and gardens. We had booked a family room which was quite small and very dark due to an enormous tree right outside the window. We asked if they had anything else and were moved (at extra charge) to a suite overlooking the pool which was much better. Didn't try the Restaurant, and never managed to get up early enough for breakfast, so walked into the town which is charming. The main beach resort is a bit "kiss me quick" but nearby Collioeur and Port Vendres are lovely.

Just returned from this great little hotel in Argeles sur Mer, France. Staff were excellent throughout our stay, and the room was maintained to a high standard. We didn't eat at the hotel as only breakfast was available, but hotel staff readily recommended local restaurants. Hotel grounds and facilities are maintained to an excellent standard. Hotel is centrally situated allowing guests to walk to the 'ville', the 'plage' or the 'port'. In all a pleasant, relaxing, quiet place to stay

We stayed at this lovely hotel for 9 days. The hotel is very nice. The rooms very always very clean and the staff was very kind although we don´t speak french very well. They were very helpful. We had a room with balcony facing the pool - so nice especially in the evening in the dark.

We missed although a restaurant at the hotel the one night with a t-storm.

The beach is about 1,5 km. away from the hotel - well... healthy with a little walk.

  • Liked — The silence, the nice weathe, the nice area
  • Disliked — The lack of restaurant at the hotel

We were so looking forward to staying here in a chilled, quiet pocket of France, which would serve to be a base for some travelling. We specifically chose it because it was small and part of the Silence Hotels chain, however due to the toilets in the accomodation flushing themselves every 38 seconds (yes I counted!), we have returned home exhausted! The noise is not so noticeable during the day but throughout the night it is like torture!!

Obviously, we reported the problems, along with other holiday makers but were just given lip service until the end of our holiday. We stayed for a week, which was unusual, most travellers stayed 1 or 2 nights in transit to or from Spain.

The grounds of the hotel and the pool area are pristine.

Lunchtime menu VERY limited. However, a short walk into the old town is highly recommended for breakfasts and other meals. There is a little street market on in the old town, which is worth a visit!

We were offered 100 euros off our NEXT stay! The hotel recognised that the plumbing is a probelm but we will NOT return, this holiday was not a cheap one and we holiday several times a year - this was our complete 'chill out' break - NOT!!!

  • Liked — Spa - however nothing written in English, very geared up for French tourists
  • Disliked — Constant noise throughout the night

We stayed at Hotel Le Cottage in July '2007. It is an oasis of peace and tranquility within the Argele area. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had a superb lunch on the premises, the best in Argeles.
The only negative, and this has more to do with the class and consideration of the guests than the hotel itself, were the topless women at the pool( not all, but a few). It might have been less offensive if they were to stay on their towels but many of these women played volleyball in the pool ( not a pretty sight!) and walked all around the premises half-naked. We were with two young boys and therefore found it rather offensive. During lunch these women were fully visible, which kind of ruined the ambience. There are an array of rules for the pool, why not a dress-code as a consideration for families? I really hate to even mention this because it is again a reflection of the guests and not the hotel, but unfortunately, in our case we did not feel comfortable at the pool and did not spend as much time there as we would have liked.
Furthermore, the rooms were comfortable and as an added bonus air-conditioned. The hotel has a nice selection of books to read. The young-lady at the front desk was very heplful in booking restaurants, giving advice on the area etc... All in all a great hotel, except for some of the guests at the pool.

  • Liked — Friendly staff and the lunch.
  • Disliked — Clothing attire at the pool or lack of.

we stayed at Le Cottage in July and were very pleased with the hotel facilities, in particular the lovely pool. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, certainly a restful hotel.
Our only quibble was the long walk to the beach, around 20-30mins walk in the heat is not so inviting. You can catch the little train to the beach area for 8 euros in the old town.
We didnt take breakfast in the hotel, but found a number of cafes 5 minutes away in the old town. One cafe, oppositie the church doors offers a very english breakfast along side the usual options.
Dont expect much life in the old town after 9pm - the beach is the place to be. We went to the restuarant Astral on a couple of occasions for a good meal - ask for a table looking out to sea.

  • Liked — the pool
  • Disliked — the long walk to the beach
