I suppose Hotel Le Cottage cost a little more than we intended but as the last stop on our grand tour of France 2013 it was worth every cent. Each and every member of the hotel staff made an effort to make us feel special and our stay quite memorable. The reception staff were most welcoming, efficient, knowledgeable and helpful regarding hotel and local information. A nice but rare touch nowadays - we were shown to our accommodation and given a run down in the operation of the safe, fridge, electric shutters and free wi-fi. The accommodation comprising bedroom, en suite and patio was scrupulously clean throughout. The bedroom was on the smallish side but was furnished to a very high standard and the bed was so so comfortable. The hotel itself is located some 10 and 30 minute walks from the centre of the village and beach respectfully and is set in shaded and beautifully manicured gardens including a mini (crazy) golf course and heated medium sized swimming pool complete with loungers, tables and chairs ; bathing towels can be supplied so don't forget your swimwear. If you have a car secure parking can be available on site.
We can't comment on the food in the hotel. We rarely eat in hotels we stay in, preferring to picnic or eat out in cafes, boulangeries and restaurants and these abound close by.
So value for money ? - well yes, taking into account the extras - and anyway just sometimes you men have got to pamper us girls - you know we're worth it.
Extra info - as you probably know Argeles-sur- Mer is a purpose built resort. It's functional and caters for all ages. It lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty. You can visit Collioure (6km away) - my family's favourite French haunt. You can easily take a trip to Narbonne and even Barcelona, 60 minutes away or go up the Pyrenees and experience the summer snow. Or you can just chill out on the beach. There's lots more to do and something for everyone and you could do a lot worse than than make Hotel Le Cottage your base.
