“Good Hotel For Night Before Early Flight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

We stayed at the Novotel Paris CDG the night before an early flight back to the U.S. I considered staying in Paris and making the trek to CDG in the morning, but chose the Novotel CDG instead. Good decision. Booked using the hotel website and got a discounted rate. Check in was fast and courteous. The room was nicely sized with a comfortable bed. The pillows on the bed weren't that great, but there were two much better pillows in the closet. Bathroom was divided into a toilet closet and a shower area each with its own door. Bathroom was perfectly functional and quite clean. For a change of scene we walked over to the nearby Hilton for dinner which was better than average hotel dining, although the restaurant at the Novotel looked perfectly acceptable. The hotel is extremely convenient to the trains and to the CDGVAL shuttle. Wakeup call the next morning was right on schedule and checkout was a breeze. Great night of sleep before a long day of travel. Would definitely stay at this property again.

A very easy walk (50 metres) from terminal 3 which is accessible via the CDGVAL from all terminals. V friendly staff and lovely shower. Accommodated my requests and were quick in replying. Would def use again. Good selection for breakfast and room service v reasonable for the quality. Wifi little dodgy, but fine for twitter/emails etc

Having no experience anything quite like the seeming chaos of multiple terminals at Paris’ enormous CDG airport, but needing a place to stay on arrival after an in-bound flight during mid-October 2013, my wife and I rolled the dice and came up with the Novotel Paris CDG Terminal. It turned out to be an excellent choice for us. The facility is clean, beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious, the price is about as good as it gets near CDG, and the location is superb – there is covered walkway access to the Aéroport Charles De Gaulle 2-TGV station, which provides access to the RER train (train to Paris and beyond) and CDGVAL shuttle (to CDG terminals). For us the Novotel Paris CDG Terminal was perfect, and we wished we could have stayed there on our overnight before departure from CDG for return to the States.

It was nice but hard to locate, "route de l'épinette" doesn't exist on GPS nor on G map. There is a screen showed that our flight was at T2, it turned out to be at T1, messed up info about everything......

This Novotel is not the high standard of other Novotels in which we have stayed. THe location is excellent but overpriced. Drawbacks include: no room option except a queen and a couch; no top sheet - only a duvet that was too warm; no clock; no wash clothes; very mediocre restaurant; room service debris in the hall.

There is a need for hotels like the Novotel Roissy, a place for an relatively inexpensive overnight stay near the airport.

With its envious location adjoined to the CDG terminal, it appeared to be a no brainer choice for our one night stay before a morning flight out of Paris. From the outside, we pulled up, it looked as modern as the neighboring Hilton or Ibis.

Even as we entered, having to cart in a month's worth of luggage ourselves without any offer of assistance, it still appeared to be a fine hotel, with an impressive reception area.

But that is where the similarities to a more reputable hotel ends. After checking in with our 6 large bags on airport carts, there was still no offer to assist us into the cramped elevators, let alone to our room.

Our room. I am not sure what we paid. I have to assume it was much less than either the Hilton or the Ibis because this was by far the most uncomfortable stay our entire 27 day trip.

There was no space for our luggage. The bathroom toilet area was the size of an airplane toilet and even looked like one. The room was humid and stuffy, the windows locked shut. The A/C blew just below room temperature, taking all night to cool the room to an acceptable temperature.

After nearly a month in France, we learned that finding lunch after 1:30PM is tricky. Not always wanting a "plat du jour", but instead a light fresh salad, tartine or quiche without suffering a French version of bad American fast food is nearly impossible outside of Paris, and can be a challenge in Paris as well.

We checked in past 2PM, and of course the restaurant was closed until dinner. It is unbelievable that a hotel attached to an airport, servicing travelers arriving or departing at all hours of the day, would close its restaurant at mid day. We asked the desk about lunch and a prepared sandwich stand inside the airport was the recommendation.

Fortunately, next to the Novotel is the Hilton with a real restaurant open all day. There we had a very decent Cesar Salad with real grilled chicken (though the croutons could have been fresher).

It was raining that evening, so we decided on room service, ordering a burger and another Cesar salad with chicken. The beef burger, ordered medium knowing that medium rare in French means bloody, came rare nonetheless. But it wasn't bloody and in truth, was quite acceptable.

The salad, however, was delivered with brown and limp lettuce with processed, microwave warmed chicken. When I called to ask for another with fresh lettuce, the fellow at the kitchen took defense to my complaint, denied the lettuce wasn't fresh, and only after I reassured him that it hadn't been eaten, he sent someone up to take the only salad away, leaving the other dinner trays in the hallway the entire night.

Ultimately, we were refunded the price of the salad. With our dinner experience, we didn't even try the breakfast, and from what I've read in other reviews, we didn't miss out on anything.

In the States, we have a name for hotels like this Novotel. It's call a Motel 6. That's all this is. A Motel 6 with a restaurant and a great location.

Stay there only if one night is all you need and you know what you are getting into.
