“Arrogant owner but good staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2011

We stayed for 3 nights. The smell in the room and toilet was terrible. We never figured out what it was.
The room were a bit small but ok. Beds was not good. We slept poorly the two first nights.
There was alot of wind noise.. We were on the 4th floor. The sound came from the vents in the toilet.
The room was clean.
TV channels were in french. Only few in english.
Breakfeast ok. Not anything special....

The staff was gr8. Some couldent speak english or they refused to. But Oliver was super.
He is one of the staff members. We shortly met the owner. Arrogant and undfriendly. So its super that hes staff understand who pays the bills.

Theres no water boiler for coffie in the rooms.. And the prices was 2,5 Euro a cup on the hotel.

I usally do not reply to the comments, negative or positive, however I cannot stand to reply to this one. All mattresses have been changed in november 2010 ( I can email a scan of the invoice to anyone on request ). Mecanic ventilation extraction is obligatory in public places, it is a matter of hygien, if noise disturbs, just close the bathroom door. 1.50€ for an expresso, 2.50€ for a double expresso (Lavazza brand coffee) is very cheap, this price hasen't increased since 2001...... I do not know who is the most arrogant, myself for a reason that I sincerely cannot remember, or someone who goes to a foreign country to spend a week-end and expect every single employee to speak english, and all TV channels to be in english....

This was a great weekend break. The staff at the vivaldi were always pleasant and helpful and nothing was too much trouble,Oliver the weekend night receptionist is a great asset offering advice and assistance on places to visit and good restaurants The hotel is situated in a quiet sidestreet with a number of friendly restaurants offering great food and great service within easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean and well run and offered free landline telephine calls abroad.and free breakfast room service. The closest Metro station is an easy 10 minute walk from the hotel.

The hotel is not to hard to find from the metro station Esplanade de La Defense, from Gard De Nord you can take the green or blue line to Chatelet, then take the red line to the second last stop Esplanade de La Defense, it takes about 45 minutes on the train. The metro is the cheapest thing in Paris.
The Vivaldi is not a large hotel but the staff and service makes up for that. There is no extra charge for internet use or landline calls with in France and other EU countries, so you can call home and tell people you arrived safely!
Buffet breakfast is good and they can bring a cold breakfast to your room.
It is close to restaurants and supermarkets. Paris is an expensive city, so you'll find your meals and any shopping on the higher side of the Euro.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was small with adjoining bathroom which had no door, so always had to remember to close curtains when using it. But for the price I was happy with that. Soon after I arrived I discovered lots of black curly hair under the 2 bed sheets. Because of this, on the first night I slept on the blanket and the second on the bed cover...but still I found it comfortable. Otherwise the room was clean. English channels are accessible in room if you press the channel number twice. The heating was noising which put me off using it during the first night but discovered the next day if I leave it for 10 mins the noise dies down. Really enjoyed the breakfast the first day. Great selection including a range of pastries, cold meat and hot food. On the second day the scrambled egg was cold. I got the impression it had been kept in the fridge. I don't mind as long as it's warmed up. Still the yoghurt was tasty. There's internet on a single computer in the lobby.

I did a lot of research on hotels in the centre before booking and the rooms all look like the ones at Vivaldi but had worse reviews with no breakfast included. So I actually was better off staying out of the centre and using the underground to get everywhere, which was not time consuming. There is a short cut to the hotel from the underground: by going out the lowest entrance of the station (not the stairs) and walking to the right and down steps which will bring you to the street the hotel is on. Otherwise it's easy to get lost with all the platforms in the area.

Overall it is good value for money. It's not perfect but it's comfortable and you get more than what you pay for despite the complaints. Plus I able to phone home to England from my room at no extra charge! Which with mobile rates aboard was a great help!

great service, we got some helpful explanations and tips for visiting Paris.
Thanks for Serving Champagner at Christmas Day and those delicious macarones and self-made chocolate.

Our room was very small but we liked it very much, it was clean and comfortable.

Breakfast was good and very much but I missed some fruits.

The Hotel is situated near the Metro so we were satosfied to get to the City fast.

Service we liked most but what we didn´t like was the coldness during breakfast time when somebody entered the lobby and opened the door.

Arrived at hotel on a Friday evening and was met with a friendly front of house Oliver. Told me all I needed to know and then made a reservation at a local restaurant for me - his recommendation was good. For the remainder of my stay all staff i encountered were friendly ans cuastomer focused and gave the view of all being one big family.
The walk from the nearest metro station Esplanade de La defense is usually a pleasant 10 minute stroll.( I did come back one evening in heavy rain!). If you are arriving by metro I would advise that you make sure you know exactly which way to go before you arrive as it's easy to take a wrong turn.
The area around the hotel is very quiet with lots of restaurants and lots of choices. All the places I ate provided good welcoming service and good food.
After the ten minute walk to the station the metros are frequent and take about ten minutes to get to the major sites. One good thing is that the metro line esplanade de la defense is on takes you straight to many of the sites without changing - Louvre, Arc de triomphe, close to notre dame etc, so being out of the main centre Hotel Vivaldi isn't a great disadvantage.
The room in thehotel was an adequate size. I had a double to myself, though to be honest there's no reason for anyone to be in the hotel for long when Paris is beckoning.
Breakfast is usual continental fare.
