“Excellent and Convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

Stayed here for a few days as part of a trip to EuroDisney and Paris City Centre and found the hotel to be perfectly placed for both with the RER A Line just 200 metres away.

The hotel seems to be very freshly decorated, good attentive staff and recognition of the Priority Rewards Scheme.

We were upgraded to a great top floor corner room, very smart bathrooms and comfy rooms all round. Decent breakfast and safe car parking downstairs. Good rates and for a place 20 minutes from EuroDisney and 30 minutes from Paris it's a good place for families or couples.

After booking this hotel for a short family-trip to Paris, primarily for some sight-seeing and a day-visit to Disneyland, I found myself revisiting the reviews and wondering if I had made a mistake - suggestions about dirty rooms, noise and an uninviting neighbourhood made me reconsider my booking.

Turns out, I can only imagine those reviewers stayed in a different hotel or had very odd impressions of what a "dodgy neighbourhood" is, or what to expect for under 80Euros a night!

This was a delightful hotel - it was easy to find, the parking garage was spacious and very secure, the hotel was clean, tidy and quiet and decorated to a great standard. There was little noise, and the rooms were well equipped - the beds were comfy, the WiFi worked fine (and was free, and very fast), and the TV even had all the main BBC channels, including BBC1 and CBBC, so we felt totally at home. The hotel staff were polite, efficient, and spoke perfect English although we tried our best to use French out of courtesy!

The shopping centre attached to the back of the hotel had some great shops, including a large toyshop that my kids wouldn't leave, and a supermarket for all those essentials. We walked through it, and around it, in daytimes and after midnight, and felt perfectly safe. The RER station is less than 1 minute walk from the hotel, and you never have to cross any roads.

We drove from Calais to the hotel in under 3 hours, including a stop for lunch, and 99% of the journey was on the motorway - the only non-motorway part is the last 200metres, including one roundabout - and even I managed that in my right-hand-drive car!

This hotel is ideal for Disneyland travellers, as the journey from the station next to the hotel to the gates of Disneyland is less than 13 minutes and costs under 12Euros for 4 people! The journey to the centre of Paris is around 20 minutes, and costs around the same. The double-decker RER trains are clean and frequent.

I have recommended this hotel to friends and colleagues, and would have no hesitation staying here again.

We stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a trip to Disney with a 13 and 11 year old.
Rooms were very modern with newly decorated interiors and very spacious. The beds were very hard but I put this down to them being new. We checked in on a Sunday late afternoon and were looking to eat in the hotel but the restaurant isn't open at the weekend. There is a shopping centre behind the hotel though about 5 min walk which has a few restaurants. The only bad point point about the hotel for me was that I emailed in advance to request interconnecting rooms and was told that they didn't have any and asked again upon check but was again told they didn't have any but when I got to my room it was interconnecting but not to the room my kids were in next door.
The hotel is about 20 mins from Disney by car and there is a train station right outside that goes to Paris or Disney.
It's about 2.5 hours from Calais with parking available.

All in all a nice clean, modern hotel.

Lovely refurbished hotel, clean, comfortable and great for travel to Paris or Disney. The mall next door is well equipt and houses the metro station about 20 mins to Paris or Disney.

Downside - Not a very nice area after dark.

This hotel has been very recently bought by HI and renovated - rooms were immaculate, well equipped with good sized fridges/minibars, quality Hansgrohe bathroom fittings, truly excellent beds, and a nice relaxing décor and feel. HI do this very well – we’ve stayed in a few. Room aircon was very good, windows new and easily opened, corridor was stuffy, lift was all-glass and very warm. Door keycards were fiddly and we struggled with them constantly, despite getting new keycards from reception. Interconnecting rooms – there are VERY few of these – email, phone, write, hassle them – don’t just rely on your booking requests! An email to reception a month in advance worked for us. Phonecalls didn’t work – we were hung up on more than once before even getting to speak to someone. The service we received when we were actually there made up for this however.

Staff were without exception helpful, courteous and friendly. Reception only ever seems to have one member of staff on duty – not ideal – but we were never kept waiting more than a few minutes. There are negative reviews of the staff on tripadvisor – I honestly couldn’t fault any of them – reception, bar, room cleaners – all friendly and efficient.

Noisy le Grand is midway between central Paris and Eurodisney/Marne-la-vallee – about 20-30 minutes from both – so is ideally located for both seeing the city and enduring Eurodisney.
It’s not that cheap to travel though! Taxi from CDG airport is 60 to 75 euros depending on the route the driver takes (shortest vs quickest). Train transfer is cheaper – but you would need to go into Paris from CDG then change and back out to Noisy-L-G, so would be hell with suitcases and kids. HI very handy for the RER – right next to the hotel. Carrefour supermarket within the adjacent commercial centre sells everything you could want. Dining locally – in the commercial centre the Hippopotomus restaurant is excellent – 39 euros between two for the best steak we’ve had in a long long time! The pizza place opposite Hippo is fairly cheap, friendly and decent quality too. Service in both was excellent. Tip – try as much as you can to speak in French even if it’s very rusty schoolboy french – it really does break the ice and helps get good service. We didn’t eat in the HI at all, apart from some fairly desperate first-night room service food that my kids just laughed at. Bought milk, bread etc in the Carrefour for breakfasts and sandwiches, and filled the minibars up to keep it all cool.

Only problem - the area is really really not good – think Moss Side in Manchester and you’re somewhere close. I lived in Moss Side for maybe 4 or 5 years – Noisy le Grand is worse, trust me on this! Very scary after dark, even around the busy RER station, which is underground, with a very depressing feel to it – the attached subterranean bus station we went into by mistake is even worse. A new over-ground one looks like it’s being built – not before time.
If you are of a nervous disposition I’m sorry to say I really wouldn’t recommend using this hotel if you need to rely on public transport.
Note you need to go up spiral steps and around past some concrete locusts (frequented by recreational pharmaceutical salesmen of an evening) then down into the bowels of the concrete jungle to get to the correct part of the RER to buy tickets from a helpful human instead of a machine that won’t take euros. Not nice when it’s getting dark. The RER ticket staff were very helpful – work out if it’s worth bulk-buying tickets as packs of ten are cheaper overall, and bear in mind the same ticket can be used on RER and Metro if it’s all the same trip. Kids are half price.
The N-L-G commercial centre seems new-ish, and once in it you feel perfectly safe, but bear in mind the ground floor doors are locked before dark as it looks like they need a security guard on each door, the restaurants overlooking the slime-filled lake behind the hotel close their doors (behind graffitti’d shutters) around the same time, and if you try and take a bag into the Carrefour, it is removed from your person by security and ty-wrapped closed or sealed in a plastic bag depending on size, to prevent you from stealing while in the supermarket. That’s a first for me.
I also made the mistake of walking out of the hotel reception, straight across the road, just to the left of a ‘Brasserie’ and into an estate that frankly needs bulldozing. Wrecked cars, graffiti, overfilled dumpsters/bins, and residents who visibly took offence to my presence at 6pm on a sunny evening. Head down, don’t panic, keep walking, don’t look back.
I am sorry to say there are serious issues in Noisy le Grand – hopefully the investment made by HI and others will help to improve things.

On the positive side the hotel is pretty much faultless, excellent, good value, spotlessly clean, and friendly.
The hotel name – Marne-la-Vallee – is a con – M-L-V is where Disneytown is, not 20 miles away in N-L-G!!
But fair enough, you won’t get anywhere near this quality and value in central Paris or closer to Mickey – the only real downside is the area unfortunately. If you consider yourself streetwise and are sensible you’ll be fine.
Eurodisney was as bad as I expected – 45 minutes queue for the smaller rides eg Dumbo, 19 euros for a burger (load up with sandwiches before you get there!!), and pushy pushy rude people everywhere – the HI was an oasis of calm after a day of idiots and second-hand cigarette smoke. Evenings at Disney are better - 10 mins queue for the big rides. Daytime is hell on earth, a hell where your dignity, sanity and wallet are all stripped bare. But it's all for the kids!
Paris was lovely – spent a day with a boat trip, we wandered, sat and ate streetside, and got the hang of the Metro.

Best bit of our trip? Google “jardin l'acclimatation” – spent almost a full day there and it beat Mickey Mouse hands down for our 8 year olds. Peacocks, llamas, brilliant rides for the less adventurous, and CHEAP! Swimming kit advised for the sprinklers! No queues, rides less than 2 euros each, no queues, good value lunch, and did I mention no queues?!

As this hotel is situated in the suburbs of Paris, it is quite unlike many of the ones in the city centre. For instance, the room is a fairly large size and has a modern washroom up to a high standard. The hotel staff are very receptive to any queries and, though I was not expecting it, they did cater to my room location and preference. The hotel itself is literally around the corner from the RER exit and the location of the hotel itself makes it perfect for a jaunt into Paris or Disneyland (around 30 minutes by RER). This is particularly good as the hotel is great value, compared to over-priced hotels you would find near either of the two locations. The hotel itself has quite a high standard, very modern and clean. The friendliness and helpfulness is evident for all the staff, from the maids to the concierge and front-of-desk staff. I was quite impressed by it, compared to other hotels I have paid more for in the city centre but of poorer quality. The only things that would prevent me from giving a 5-star rating would be: as the hotel is situated in the suburbs, you would need an additional fare surcharge (ie: RER tickets for zone 1-3 won't work), the exit to the hotel closes early on th weekends so if you are coming back late at night it is slighty difficult to find the hotel from the only RER exit that is open late (however, the area seems very safe anyway), and finally, I don't recall it having a spa/leisure facilities, however the hotel is perfect for those who want to go and explore Paris and its environs rather than staying all day in a hotel but who also want to come back to a comfortable and clean hotel of a high quality.

Room Tip: like other guests who have provided tips, I would suggest a room far from the lift and asking to fac...

This hotel benefits from location of about 20 Kms from Paris and from Disneyland. Otherwise it is one of the worst maintained and managed holiday inns. It is full of travellers coming with tour busses, many large groups of teenagers. Rooms are old and below standard. Staff seems little motivated.
