We came upon La Maiella during a walk and decided to try it for Saturday lunch. We were seated immediately, and the owner, when learning we didn't speak much French sent over a gentleman who did. The setting was pleasant, warm and cozy, yet bright with windows lookng out to the street. The food was very good and served quickly but we were not rushed. We relaxed with an excellent kir royale while looking over the menu.which had something for everyone, from the picky eater to the budget traveler. We skipped appetizers and salads, although they looked very good on the other tables. The veal milanese with pasta on the side and veal picatta served with excellent frites, along with a bottle of Montepulciano were all very good. The portions were not overly large, but sized just right. The meal ended with a shared dish of 3 scoops of ice cream and an espresso. Total cost was 75.50 EUR (about 22 was for the wine.) Many people ordered the pizza which looked excellent. As is with many restaurants in Europe, one finds a wide range of people, from older people dining alone to families with children. We were the only Americans there but did not feel the least bit unwelcome. We'd definitely eat here again.
