“Be careful that this is what you want.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2012

This is a lovely setting an nice country manor house. Th staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms have been modernized. The kitchen is certified by Relais & Chateau, yet the portions are exceedingly small. The menu is challenging if you do not like foie gras. There is a "prim and proper" attitude throughout. I found an ant on my raspberry this morning; when I showed the waitress, she took it and said nothing. This is a place for older people to come and read, or take car trips to the area chateaux. There is very little to do here. No gym, no spa. If you love French food, and want a quiet rest, this is the place.

We enjoyed a lovely 4 nights at this very well maintained former hunting lodge which is situated in lovely grounds, 5 minutes away from the Loire. Very friendly and professional staff. An excellent 2 star restaurant (closed Monday and Tuesday). Perfectly quiet at night and just the sound of birds in the morning. Privately owned the establishment has been running for at least 20 years and it runs in a well oiled way.
Only disadvantage we found was the noise of the occassional car passing down a lane close to the swimming pool - but a disadvantage easily over come by the pleasure of drinking a bottle of cool white wine in such idylic surroundings.

Stayed for one night in May 2012. Booked via the Relais & Chateaux website and got a week end deal. The hotel is situated in the middle of an enormous park with a beautiful forest, a couple of large ponds, an antique windmill you can climb up... the hotel is split in two: the old manor and the new houses. We stayed in the new part, the room was very comfortable but the style was a bit dated (late 80s). It was very quiet. The breakfast, very expensive, but absolutely worth it if you're into continental breakfasts. Service was outstanding and the staff is here to help. Strongly recommended just for the park. We did not eat at the 2 star michelin restaurant, we prefered going into Blois.

This is one of my favorite places in the world! In the gorgeous french countryside of the Loire Valle is this old hunting lodge, converted into an elegant, charming country inn estate, with a 5 star dining room and a grand chef of France. This time around we could only stay for 1 night, which was so sad because it's so hard to leave this beautiful place. Our party of 7 had three rooms reserved. 2 of the rooms were in the charming gatehouse building, while the other one was in the main house. All of the rooms are different, but each one with it's own french country character. Amenities in the rooms and bathrooms are top notch. Everything you would expect in a 5 star accommodation. You MUST make the reservation for dinner - it will most likely be your best dining experience in all of France. I can not say enough about the restaurant. Perfection. The dining room ambiance and decor is very warm with gorgeous fabrics and tables set with the loveliest china. Many of their wines are local and very delicious. The food presentation is an art form. We all hummed through our 3 course meal. The homemade breads to die for. Before and after our seating, we had drinks in the lovely salon with the fireplace roaring (it was chilly at night) and complimentary pates and cheese. And the service is impeccable. This is the perfect country estate for a base to see all the Loire Valle Chateaux.

Room Tip: If a romantic trip, stay in Main House. If family trip, larger rooms to accommodate people are in t...

The hotel is located 5mins away from the road along the loire which takes you everywhere. The grounds are beatiful and the hotel is lovey, blois, chenonceau and other chateaux are a short drive away, and the restaurant is fantastic.
Service is friendly and knowledgeable.
We will certainly return!

This hotel is perfect. Beautiful big rooms with super comfortable beds and furnishings in the rooms and in the common living room and dining room. Traditional French decor, but the bathrooms totally updated. Staff spoke French when I wanted to practice my fractured French and kindly switched flawlessly to English when I needed it. The hotel is in the middle of a large forested property where the birds sing (really!) in the morning and the evening as if on cue. We were very tired the first evening, so had tea in the salon and relaxed and went to bed. So civilized. There is a one star Michelin restaurant in the hotel where we had along leisuerly meal which is truly superb.

The reviews are right...this hotel is great. It's like you have a rich uncle who let you use his hunting chateau for the weekend... don't skip dinner, and make sure to bring your appetite!
