“Perfect for our family overnight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013 via mobile

We looked for hotel to overnight in and were so lucky to find this one! Fantastic Duplex family room with a cot to accommodate us! 2 adults and 4 children! Had an amazing dinner in the restaurant downstairs! Absolutely perfect service from the Maître D'! The food was outstanding! All the children loved theirs and the dessert was perfectly light and a superb ending to the meal! We will definately stay here again! I posted this review before I had breakfast ..... but based on dinner I am really looking forward to it! Also great location and great parking!

I am quite amazed reading the previous reviews. Maybe we visited on a wrong day ! Although the rooms are indeed very nice, the breakfast situation was appaling ! The staff were bickering to eachother. As to the food: the milk was cold, the coffee was finished after one cup, although they made us some fresh, the mixed fresh fruit had a weird taste, the fresh grapes were sticky and didn't seem washed and had some rotten grapes attached. Unusual for us, we did not leave a tip at breakfast. The hotel has enormous potential, and if I were the owner, I would have a serious word with the staff, especially with the manager of the breakfast room. We paid 180 euros for that night and it certainly wasn't value for money, even though the rooms are lovely.

I've been in Europe and have stayed here before so decided to try it again. On this trip I've stayed on 3 different occasions based on the convenience, comfort, great rooms, and without a doubt outstanding service from Stephanie at the front desk. A very personable person looking out for her facility's customers. I once lived in this town during my military service when this building was a cigarette making factory and its now serving a much more worthwhile job. The food was excellent but you could tell the serving staff was young and lacked some experience. It did not however reflect on their ability to serve their customers and I enjoyed my meals here. The surprise foie gras appetizer was something I'm still thinking about. I've had 3 truly enjoyable visits on this European tour.

We had been involved in an accident on the motorway near Argenton and needed some rooms for one night. We were in a rush as our wives had been taken to the hospital in Chateauroux.
The hotel was full but the woman on reception, Stephanie, rang several hotels while we were there. These were also full but Stephanie said "leave it with me and I will call you at the hospital in 30 minutes". True to her word, she rang having found some late cancellations at the Colbert.
When we got back from the hospital, Stephanie was charming and kind to us. She also helped us arrange transport back to England - a Europcar hire from Chateauroux to our home in Kent, returning it to Calais this morning. An absolute star. The restaurant was also very good for dinner and breakfast.

Excellent hotel for an overnight stop on the way to more southerly France. Very secure parking. Dinner and breakfast are very good so no need to go looking for a restaurant. Very friendly staff. Would not recommend staying for a period only because Chateauroux is a boring industrial town

Room Tip: All rooms we have used have been good quality, ckean and overlooking secure parking

Most expensive hotel on our 5 week trip through Europe but also the nicest!

We had a duplex (upstairs / downstairs) which slept 2 adults and 2 children (12 and 10) very comfortably.

Double bed upstairs with bath / shower and toilet, while downstairs was a double sofabed, desk , small table and chairs and a toilet. Plenty of room for the 4 of us.

TV both upstairs and down, tea / coffee making facilities, mini bar fridge were all available.

Car park is 5 euro however on Sunday street parking is free (until 9am Monday morning)

It was a short walk into the main part of town and we enjoyed the ambience. It was Christmas time and the decoration and ice skating rink was in full swing! There is an Aldi supermarket across the road (closed Sundays) and a boulangerie open at 7am for fresh bread in the morning.

We enjoyed our stay.

Reception staff were pleasant, but didn't tell me about how the lights worked so had to go back downstairs to find out :/ (I'm not a frequent traveler). There was a finger nail clipping on the basin from the last guest which I thought was REALLY bad. The shower takes forever to get hot... switch it on... brush your teeth... eventually it gets warm enough to venture in!! The food is rather expensive and the choice is limited on the main menu. Breakfast is great though! Oh, and they need some English speaking channels on the TV! AND.... they need to be sure of what time the car rental agency THEY refer you to opens.... it's not 7am... it's 9am... big difference when you have to get up early 'just' for that!! It would be good if they had a small gym too!!!
