“Lovely B&B in a very nice town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

The house is a well restored, beautiful old mansion, located very close to the city center. Our room overlooked a beautiful park and the city walls. We stayed in the room furnished with many Asian items, from the world travels of the owners. It had every amenity and a beautiful bathroom. It felt quite luxurious after some of the more basic places we had stayed. We were able to park our car inside the gate and leave it there while we walked around town. Vannes was a delightful little town and we were able to enjoy a great dinner at a restaurant near the harbor. The owners actually left early in the morning on a trip but they had a very nice young woman who took care of our breakfast and our check-out. I would definitely recommend a trip to Vannes and a stay at Maison de las Garenne.

I tried staying here a year ago and the house was booked. This year I was able to stay and I am glad that I did. The house is located a quick 3 minute walk from the old town. The home overlooks the walls. Street parking is available in addition to payed parking on the property. The house is not that difficult to find once you know where you are going. Just drive up from the harbor with the harbor on your right to the first roundabout-at the roundabout make a sharp right and come down the road-the house is at the end behind the green gates. I only met Madame on my stay. She is a lovely woman who truly appreciates the beauty of the region where she lives. She speaks English fluently and has plenty of literature to assist you on activities both in and around Vannes. She was helpful in restaurant suggestions and I quite enjoyed the restaurant that I settled on. My room was decorated with an Oriental theme. The room was spacious with toiletries, a bath robe and bedroom slippers. There was also a kettle in the room along with a selection of teas and coffee. Breakfast was very satisfying. Madame offered to make me eggs. There was also a nice selection of cheeses, meats, pastries, yogurt and fruit.

Room Tip: my bathroom was in the room, I believe one of the other rooms has the bathroom in the hall. My room...

It´s difficult to find the hotel with the GPS but when it indicated that you arrived then parked and walk upstairs. Everything is delightful, my bedroom perfectly designed. The owner speaks a little spanish just enough for chating.

We stayed in September 2012 with our 11 months old. We were in the Oriental room which was tastefully decorated and spacious, especially with extra furniture (a cot and baby bath) placed in the room. The surprises for us was toilet and bathroom were separate rooms, and we could use the kitchen facilities to heat up babyfood if we'd like. The breakfast was delicious and we were offered freshly cooked eggs everyday. The owners were very friendly, informative and went to length to ensure we have a good stay. Every morning we were greeted with lovely smiles and we learnt more about the house, Vannes, etc. from chatting with the hosts. Besides, they also set up our breakfast table with an extra high chair, bib, cultery and plates for our baby. We couldn't ask for more. The house was also very close to town centre. It provided a great start of our Brittany trip and we would love to go back there again.

Room Tip: The oriental room was beautiful.

Finding this hotel is difficult even with GPS- take the phone number with you. Rooms are well designed with pristine linens. The breakfast is elegant. The owners are charming. The location is convenient to the old city. Parking is available. Looks out on a garden or park. Beautiful mansion.

This elegant old home has been lovingly restored with the most careful attention to detail: soundproofing the floors, wonderful shower, roomy bathroom, towel warmers, everything you could want for a stay--short or long. Every corner of the home is immaculately clean--literally from floor to ceiling. Antoine and Christine are the most kind and generous hosts and they work hard to ensure your comfort and enjoyment. Breakfast included a local homemade treat, as well as pastries, yogurt, fruit, cereal, breads, eggs if you wanted, and delicious homemead jams. We are looking for an opportunity to go back to Vannes--just so we can stay at Maison de la Garenne.
