On arriving at this hotel on a Brittany Ferries break, one's immediate impression on entering is "Great" with a very welcoming staff and impressive lobby. However, on being shown to our room, this impression changed to "Oh dear". The room, which was very small, although it did have a so-called patio, which was totally enclosed like a boxed courtyard, did not have anything like 4 star provision. It could best be described as a box-room. There was hardly room to get in, unless one moved a chair in the doorway. The good-sized TV was placed flat against the wall in a corner, being immovable, and, therefore, unviewable from other than directly in front. The table was cluttered with a kettle, some instant coffee packs and tea packs and 2 small bottled waters (a concession to 4 star status?). The furniture could best be described as functional with no obvious style. There was hardly room to swing the proverbial cat!.The whole, at the back of the hotel, was overlooked by a huge concrete block of flats.
The restaurant as a room was impressive, this being also used as the breakfast room, though one was shown to a specific table, so that one was only given the "luxury" of cheese on the first morning. The breakfast , which must rank as having the least choice we've ever been served in a French hotel, consisted of no fresh fruit, other than that served in tiny bowls as fruit salad (this being mainly apples), 3 cereals (the same every day), tiny croissants and pain aux chocolats, the same shank of ham which appeared all week, bread and jams, plain yoghurts ,honeys, pate and not much else. The fruit juice (only apple or orange) was served by the waiter, so that one only got one glass, and not a drop more.
The dinner, which we had on one night, was very good, but very expensive. We found much better value, and excellent quality in Roscoff.
In fact we wished we'd been staying at one of the lesser rated hotels, which did seem to offer better quality for less money.
Apart from the very polite , excellent staff, the overall impression was that this was a hotel only worthy of 2 stars at best, as the management seemed to care more about penny-pinching (even the bathrobes were charged at 3 euros per day) than the quality and value being provided. We do not recommend this hotel, nor do we have any wish to return!
