“A great little find.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

A lovely little hotel very conveniently tucked away close to the beach.
The hotel staff were all most pleasant & efficient. The food can only be described as excellent & plentifull. All in all a 1st rate hotel.

No bad surprise there, on the contrary. We got room 6 with view in the ocean for 55 euros, half price compared to summer prices. Very quiet road (but hard to say what it would be like in summer time!). Definitely a nice place out of season.

We really liked this hotel and having spent time cycling round and looking at the other options agreed that this was the best hotel in the area. There are a couple of things you do need to bear in mind staying here though.

Mimizan Plage was great as a base for cycle touring with the network of paths and surfing. There is also access to the lake and promenade on cheval and even Segways.

Keen surfers will prefer the break at Hossegor which is a much better formed wave and a shorter paddle out.

Pros
- clean
- excellent service
- well presented
- v good food
- v good location
-Mimzan plage has just about enough shops and restaurants to keep it interesting for 4 days.

Cons
-important to select the right room. Balcony rooms and sea view best. Some of rear rooms not so good.
-rooms are small.
-our double bed was about 5ft 10 long which for someone well over 6ft was not good.
-paper factory in Mimizan. When the wind blows in the wrong direction you will choke in the acrid fumes.
-one row back from beach so not really beach views.

Room Tip: Pre reserve balcony rooms on hotel frontage a must. Bear in mind nearby discos in high season.

Great location, 30 seconds from the fabulous beach. Restaurant staff friendly and helpful. Desk people, not so good, almost felt as though they were going through the motions, a bit worrying for them at the beginning of the season. The rooms are small, try to get one with a balcony so you can extend out side. No real lounge or relaxing so a bit cramped when the rain comes.

We stayed here one night. We were welcomed in a friendly mix of French and English, shown to our room, which was small, but clean, and had everything we needed. Bed was comfy, bathroom was good.

There's a nice pool at the back of the hotel, which I hadn't realised was there and was a great surprise!

It's a short walk from the centre of Mimizan, where there are a number of places to get an evening meal. Breakfast in the hotel was standard continental fare, and very nice.

excellent experience off season - you can really appreciate the town without the crowds. The hotel has an old world elegance. The staff are wonderful and one feels they are in an Agatha Christie novel. Will go back again.

this hotel is very close to the super beach ,pleasant walk to the shops and many resturants ,Our room was on the small side though many French hotel bedrooms are the same .we p-robably would have been better to have taken the bb and dinner deal ,but we like to sample different places so at 95 euros a night found it quite expensive for just the room ,still would recommend this hotel

  • Liked — cosy
  • Disliked — small bedroom
