“FIRST CLASS B&B in a GREAT LOCATION”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The property is located in a fairly nondescript back street of Sarlat. However, once you arrive you see that the house is set in a very nice garden, well back from the road. The house is typically French with charming, clean and well furnished rooms. The hosts are extremely welcoming, pleasant and helpful. My wife and I stayed there for 4 nights (we wish it could have been more). Wendy & David go to great lengths to ensure that their guests are well catered for and are a fund of local information and want to help in whatever way they can. Breakfasts are generous and a wide choice of food and drink is provided.
It is but a short walk into the lovely town of Sarlat and so within very easy reach of the many amenities that this ancient town has to offer including it's many restaurants and bars.
This B&B deserves to prosper and we highly recommend Le Jardin to anyone looking for a home from home and a central base from which to explore the lovely area of the Dordogne.
Wendy & David share their home with their lovely friendly dog Oscar.

Like so many other guests at Le Jardin we applaud Wendy and David for offering such wonderful accommodations in their charming bed and breakfast. If you are reading this review you are most likely interested in a warm, intimate experience, providing the opportunity to meet other travelers, as well as the personal touch from the proprietors. Le Jardin offers this with just the right balance, from their delicious hot and cold breakfasts, to their restaurant suggestions and driving directions. The rooms are clean, bright and cosy, and Castlenaud, our room had an unusually large bathroom equipped with a hairdryer and heated drying rack for towels.
Sarlat was the perfect town for our home base for the 5 days in the Dordogne, and Le Jardin's location, a 5 minute walk from the old town was an ideal location. Kudos to Wendy and David for opening up their home to travelers!

We stayed at Le Jardin for 5 nights in mid October as we were looking for somewhere within walking distance of restaurants in Sarlat. The location is a perfect combination of peace and quiet on the doorstep of the old town. The accommodation at Le Jardin is charming and the buffet breakfast with a hot option was an additional treat. The guest lounge is well equipped with guide books and internet access and along with David and Wendy's extensive knowledge of the area, make it perfect for planning places to visit. And at the end of a days sightseeing we could enjoy a glass of wine with the other guests on the verandah and discuss the days events. The atmosphere at Le Jardin is relaxed and welcoming and David and Wendy are great hosts who go out of their way to make their guests comfortable.

My husband and I stayed at Le Jardin for 5 nights. David and Wendy make you feel very at home in their B&B, everything is first class, the bedroom we stayed in was very clean and really comfortable, breakfast in the morning (buffet style) is a treat with everything so fresh and nicely laid out where you just help yourself (cooked breakfast is also on offer) and it is lovely to meet other guests and chat over breakfast.

Sarlat is a lovely city with lots of narrow cobbled streets to walk through, Saturday market is a treat (not to be missed). There are numerous restaurants in Sarlat and David and Wendy are more than happy to give you advice on where to eat.

If you like cycling there is an excellent cycle path and Wendy is more than willing to organise and book (through a guy called Jason who we would highly recommend). We had a brilliant day cycling and you get to see little sleepy French villages on the way and the scenery is beautiful.

If you are going to visit Sarlat Le Jardin is the perfect place to stay you definitely will not be disappointed.

My husband Paul and I stayed at Le Jardin for 3 nights and found it to be a perfect combination of location, friendliness, and beauty. Sarlat is a great city to visit, but after a long day of walking through narrow streets and crowds, the short walk to Le Jardin offered a peaceful oasis of beautiful trees, singing birds, the sound of a water feature. On top of that, David and Wendy's gracious welcome and helpfulness made this one of the top places we visited in our 2 1/2 week vacation. The rooms are clean and well-maintained, the breakfasts were ample and delicious with a variety of offerings -- fruit, yogurt, cereals, etc. plus a cooked breakfast that changed each day. And, if that weren't enough, Oscar the wonderful Chocolate Lab, would make an appearance from time to day to the delight of everyone. I recommend Le Jardin highly and without reservation.

Room Tip: We stayed in the roo "Castlenau" which has lovely views into the garden.

Wendy and David are very friendly, and the room is so comfortable and clean. everything is perfectly. Our trip in europe is about one month, and Le Jardin is the best B&B in our trip!!

Just returned from a second stay at Le Jardin. Stayed 5 nights and the service levels and friendliness were, if anything, better than the first time. David and Wendy remembered us and treated us like old friends. One thing that has changed from our first vist is the breakfast. Now as well as the French style buffet breakfast there is also the option of a cooked breakfast with a different menu every day. This is in addtion to the usual breakfast and is at no extra cost.

Sarlat as as delightful and interesting as previously. The only comment I would make is that many of the local restuarants are a bit heavy on the foie gras for our taste but, if you are selective, there are some very good restuarants with a wider choice. Wendy and David offer some very good advice in this area.

Sarlat and Le Jardin offer a tremendous base to explore the Dordogne. An amazing area to explore. Caves and Chateaus, spectacula cliff top towns and villages and, if you are interested in history, a little research on the pre-history of the area and the 100 years war will prepare you for a wealth of great experiences. Again Wendy and David are a fount of knowledge in this area and can offer very good advice. Their residents lounge has a great library of leaflets and books to help your research.

Would we recoomend Le Jardin and would we go a third time. A resounding yes on both counts.
