My husband and I have just returned from an 8 night stay at La Verperie and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is a really nice building in lovely grounds and is only a 10 minute walk into the centre of the old town of Sarlat. We stayed in room 6 which was on the top floor. The room was fairly basic with double bed, fitted wardrobe, small tv and separate bathroom with shower. We had a lovely view of the grounds and pool. It looked like some of the other rooms were probably quite a bit bigger but we did book at the last minute and the hotel seemed pretty full.We ate breakfast at the hotel most days which was quite good and much better then I expected. There was a selection of fruit, yoghurts, croissants, bread rolls, jam, cheese, ham, hard boiled eggs, orange squash and a drinks machine for tea/coffee etc. We ate outside on the sunny terrace most days. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as we like to go out and explore different restaurants but it looked like most of the other guests did and there was always a nice smell coming from the kitchen as we left to go out for the eveining. We usually left straight after breakfast and only returned for a quick shower and change, and a beer or glass of wine, before going out again in the evening. The hotel was very good value at €60 per night, with breakfast at €9 per person. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a nice base to explore the surrounding region and doesn't mind a 10 min walk into the main town.
