“Smart and clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2014

Spent weekend here when we went over for weekend to complete some business. Place is very smart and rooms have separate bedroom and kitchen area. The lounge area is quite basic but ok. The downstairs is very pleasant and there is an outside pool.

Probably a little expensive to say great value for money but having stayed in B&B hotels, which are fine and value for money, this is about getting a little bit more luxury for paying a little extra. Like always shop around the travel sites to get a good deal rather than book direct.

Enjoyable stay.

We stayed here for two nights during a business trip. It's not a regular hotel but apartments so the rooms don't get serviced daily , not that that's a problem. We had a good size bedroom with very comfortable bed, large bathroom with shower over the bath, living room with TV, sofa (sofa bed), coffee table, dining table, kitchenette with hob and microwave, plates, cups, cutlery and pans. Some colleagues were staying in a (much more expensive) chateau but they wanted to swap with us as they didn't have air conditioning!
We didn't have time to use the outdoor pool but it looked very clean, as was the whole hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, they lent us a UK adaptor as I'd managed to forget mine.
From a quality point of view it's probably only a three star hotel but because of the great value I'm giving it four stars.
Would have no hesitat

My 5 star rating is predominantly based on the great value that this hotel provided. Definitely not the best hotel (of 8) that we stayed at in France this summer, but the best value.
In my opinion this hotel is very similar to the Novotel chain with the exception that the rooms are cheaper yet larger. It does not have the professional feel that you get from a Novotel, but does allow for more flexibility. We stayed here for two nights during our Bordeaux to Toulouse cycle trip. The room has a separate double bedroom and has a small kitchenette in the lounge area.
Across the road from a McDonalds, one block away from a Lidl and about a kilometre off the main cycle tract this was a very convenient hotel. There is a bike rack inside the central courtyard which contains the pool. The pool is small, but was very welcome after a tough day cycling. An additional bonus was the laundry room. Not the usual machine that chews up your cloths, but a quality Bosch machine that you can use to wash cycle gear on a gentle program. When on a cycle tour, the access to a washing machine should never be underestimated. There is only so much grease stains that hand-washing can remove.

This was the second time I stayed at Residence Astoria for 1 night on a business trip and of course since I returned it means that I had a good experience the 1st time round. My second time there was just as I remember the hotel: clean, spacious 1 bedroom apartment, helpful staff.
As I travel from 1 hotel to the other only staying 1 night in each place, it is very important to feel cosy in the evening and this hotel really allow you to do so. A nice lounge with kitchenette (everything you need there: dish, plates, cutlery, pots and pans, glasses, hot plates, microwave and fridge….), separate bedroom and a very spacious and modern shower.
Easy to find and on the outskirt of Agen (really appreciated when you have already driven hours during the day, you don’t want to have to navigate the towncentre), very large supermarket close by.
The only issue I can see (not a problem for me in this season) is that if you wish to stay during the summer and open the windows, you might get quite a bit of road noise; of course you could always use the air-conditioning.

This is a great, fairly new, place to stay if touring France as we are. The beds were very comfortable and the room (suite) was spacious. Having experienced the IBIS Budget hotel in Bayonne the night previously, this hotel was like the Ritz!
Check in was a breeze and the receptionist spoke good English as did all the other members of staff we met.
Only one English TV Channel (CNN London), so pretty much the same as most hotels in this price range across France.
We did not have time, or suitable temperatures, to try the pool, but it looked OK.
If arriving on a Sunday the restaurant on site is closed, but you can bring food to prepare in the room, which is an interesting challenge. The local Spar supermarket (located on Cours Gambetta 3 -4 mins away by car) is open on a Sunday and is well stocked, with a excellent selection of wines.
There is a McDonald's and a Chinese Restaurant next door which might be an acceptable alternative as a last resort.
We had a great breakfast, with a very good selection including boiled eggs which you cook yourself!
The coffee, although a self service machine, was fresh ground and very good. Being a buffet breakfast it can really set you up for the day.
All in all good value for money.........

Room Tip: We stayed in a room overlooking the busy roundabout, but with the Air Con set low and the window shu...

We stayed here for one night on our journey down to Spain. The hotel is located about 5 minutes drive from the city centre. On arrival, late afternoon, there was adequate free parking. Check in was relatively smooth. As the restaurant was closed we decided to travel into the town centre where we enjoyed a very nice meal.
The room was more than adequate for our one night stay. We had a one bedroom apartment with a separate lounge and bedroom and a small kitchenette. There was free wifi with a good connection.
We had a good night's sleep but were very disappointed with the breakfast. On arrival in the dining room we found an elderly gentleman dressed in his pyjamas!! If that wasn't bad enough he then started touching all of the food and seemed to be collecting enough food for the rest of his stay. It completely put us off our breakfast. We were disappointed that no staff member remonstrated with him about his unhygienic behaviour.
The hotel had a nice pool but unfortunately we didn't get the chance to make good use of the facilities.

We stayed here for one night on the 20th June 2013. We had travelled from Paris to Agen by train and then caught a taxi from the train station to the hotel as it is not in the centre of town.
On arrival we were greeted warmly - some of the staff speak English which made it very easy for us as our french is limited. We were given a free wifi code for each device we had which we found very handy. The staff in reception were very helpful and friendly.
Our room (number 1) was up one flight of stairs although there was a lift available. The room had a kitchenette, bathroom, lounge area and separate bedroom. The bathroom had a shower over a bath and was spacious and modern. The bed was firm and comfortable.
We met up with friends and went to the bar for a pre dinner drink - once again the staff were friendly and efficient.
We had some laundry to do and when it became apparent that the washing machine was being used one of the staff kindly offered to run it through for us while we were out!! This was waiting for us at reception later in the day.
We had dinner at the restaurant situated next to the hotel reception (La Table d'Armandie) Our meal was wonderful and again the service was friendly and efficient.
One thing we did notice - if you are wanting a taxi in Agen - order one well in advance as in our experience they keep you waiting. (Almost 2 hours in one instance - 2 didn't come at all and the 3rd was there within a few minutes!!)
Overall we were extremely happy with our stay at this hotel - the room was very comfortable and the staff constantly went the extra mile for us. We would highly recommend staying here.
