“Best hotel in Riquewihr”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

This is truly the best accommodation available in the town of Riquewihr. Immaculately clean, beds have lovely linens and are very comfortable, and the bathrooms are new and efficient. I would return here in an instant if staying in this town - there is no better accommodation. My friend and I realized this after an unfortunate experience in another accommodation in town. We had to vacate our inn at 11:00 pm because of flying vermin in our rooms and fortunately for us, the Best Western had 2 rooms available for us at that late hour. We were sorry we didn't stay there for the first 3 nights of our Riquewihr stay. It would have saved us a lot of money and a lot of headaches. Believe me, this is the place to stay if in Riquewihr.

The location of the hotel was perfect, right outside the village walls just far enough away to escape the crowds. Fast easy walk to the village. The room was larger than we expected and the staff spoke english very well. We will be visiting again!

We stayed here as part of our week long roadtrip of the Alsace wine route, starting in Strasbourg and ending in Colmar. Riquewihr was somewhere in the middle. Riquewihr is a car free zone and so we had to stay outside the village walls. The hotel is about a 10 minutes walk from the main entrance to the village. The hotel had a fresh and clean look from the outside. The car park is right in front which is useful when there is a tired toddler and a tired senior citizen as part of the group! The check in was quick and the hotel was pleasant. Rooms were comfortable and we had requested rooms facing the vineyard so we got great views and photos from the room itself! We didn't have any meals there not even breakfast as one of us chose to walk into the village for warm oven fresh croissants which we ate in the room :) All in all a pleasant stay and value for money. I recommend it particularly for anyone who has knee problems as most hotels/ B&Bs inside Riquewihr do not have lifts. That was why I chose it as my mother is not very mobile but it turned out to be a good choice for the rest of the group too.

Room Tip: Ask for vineyard facing rooms.

this is the second time that I have stayed here with a cycling buddy. Set at the entrance to Riquehihr, and easy to get to. The hotel has loads of car parking which is set in the grounds of the hotel. The staff are friendly, multi lingual and nothing ever seems a problem.
The hotel is well maintained, and the rooms were of a decent size, for a couple of big lads who needed to dry out cycling kit...The rooms contain all the basics for a weeks stay.
Breakfast was good, the usual continental options of cheese bread hams etc., but enough choice to keep most people happy.
The bar seemed well used, and was not too expensive.
The mix of residents were mainly 50+ so this had to be one of the quietest places I have ever stayed in.
No problems on either visit to this hotel.

Room Tip: 75 metres up the road that runs from the hotel along the city walls is a great brasserie "Le Gr...

I'm not sure how Best Westerns rate in the US, but this was our second Best Western brand hotel in Europe and we are very impressed. We stayed at this Hotel in July of 2013. The location is just perfect for motorists. There is no need to have to drive through the mainly pedestrian streets of Riquewihr because the hotel is literally just outside of the old walls. Very very easy. 3 minute walk to the center of the village.
We had booked a suite, which was 2 large rooms separated by double doors, a large master bath, and a powder room off the living room. Clean, comfy, and spacious.
Breakfast was a great spread of breads, cheeses, meats, and jams, plus we could eat outside on the terrace(perfect weather this trip).
All of the staff were wonderfully friendly, engaging, helpful, and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Riquewihr is a beautifully preserved old Alsatian town which becomes very busy during the day, and then wonderfully quiet when the day trippers leave in the early evening. We chose to make excursions during the day(other villages, a drive up into the beautiful Vosges Mountains, Colmar, cycling through vineyards) and return to our wonderful village when just enough people were still there to give Riquewihr a lively but not busy atmosphere. One night we sat at the cafes for hours listening to a local band play Alsatian folk music, in full costume. This actually did not seem touristy, but something more for the locals. What a glorious town. We would also recommend a visit to the town of Eguisheim---equally as beautiful, although larger feeling.
Without question, we would stay at the Hotel le Schoenenbourg again if we should be lucky enough to visit Alsace in the future.

We stayed for 7 nights at this lovely hotel and found the Staff were brilliant and nothing seemed too much trouble for them , we were on our motorcycle and they have a very large car park and a very secure garage but the garage is a bit pricey at 8 euros a night for a motorcycle but even the garage is as clean as a hospital operating theatre, and the lift goes from your room to the garage so if its raining you can load up your bike in the dry! the hotel is absolutely spotlessly clean and the rooms are very nice and spacious with good showers and a large flat screen TVs as well as free Wi-Fi. we did not have any breakfast as we are late risers when on holiday but the hotel does snacks in the evening and the bar is relaxing but with so may excellent restaurants in the gorgeous town of Riquewihr that's only 5 or 6 hundred meters away we ate out every night but had a relaxing drink on the balcony on our return. The pool is also very clean with good sun beds and parasols , we have to say this is a excellent hotel with staff that try there very best to make your stay a enjoyable one , I highly recommend this best western hotel and we will use it again

Room Tip: Only book the garage if you are paranoid about your vehicle security as the car park is very secure

Views from this hotel are of the vineyards and the flowered town of Riquewhir. This non-smoking hotel has a lovely balcony for drinks or breakfast. The swimming pool is a rarity in this area (open only in the summer months). Beds are comfortable, a coffee/tea maker in the room, good lighting and plenty of space to store things (plus a room safe). Wifi is free and excellent (in rooms and throughout the hotel). An added plus is that the entire hotel is air-conditioned--much needed in the hot weather. There is an exercise room and also a sauna available (charge for the sauna). Free parking is available (as is a closed garage for a fee). There is a bar, which also has snacks available after 2 pm. Staff is helpful and multi-lingual. The breakfast buffet is extensive (not included in the room price). The hotel is recycling-conscious. You are two minutes from the wonderful town of Riquewhir, where every building is flowered and photo-worthy! The restaurants in town offer a wide variety of eating opportunities, from tarte flambee (Alsatian pizza) to Michelin one-star. The hotel is popular with hikers and bicyclists and allows you to store your bicycle in the garage. You are minutes from many other villages in the area...and also plenty of wine-tasting opportunities! It is a pleasure to stay here!
