We spent 2 nights at this hotel at the end of a week's walking in the mountains of Corsica and it was a perfect end to the holiday. The setting is terrific with wonderful views across the bay and shops and bars within a short stroll of the hotel.
I think that there must have been some considerable refurbishment since earlier reviews, because the decor is smart, modern and elegant - not at all 'shabby chic'. Our bedroom was spacious, with good beds, flat screen TV, a balcony with seating and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom had a huge walk-in shower, and good quality toiletries, robes and slippers are provided. Nice touches like small tubes of hand cream next to the bed, a turn-down service with chocolates and clean towels before bed-time all added to the sense of luxury and care for the guests.
Dinner was wonderful, served alongside the swimming pool at a table under some pine trees hung with lights. The food was excellent and the view of the sun going down over Propriano bay made the evening into something very magical and romantic.
The staff are very helpful and considerate, and speak good English. Our friend wanted to use the sauna which unfortunately was not available, so the hotel owner gave her the keys to a luxury suite which has its own sauna and told her to spend the afternoon there and to make herself completely at home. This level of customer service is rare and delightful and made us determined to return to this beautiful hotel.

The Hotel Miramar has rather lost the shine of a modern 4 star hotel, but it suited our needs perfectly. The staff were all exceptionally kind and friendly, the food was excellent both at breakfast and dinner, and the access to the beach extremely easy. The staff even provided beach towels and a parasol for us to take. Snorkelling in the bay was lovely and the swimming pool, whilst inviting, was therefore never needed.
The room was spacious and generally well appointed, although in need of modernising. The road between Propriano and Ajaccio is too close for real peace, but not overly-intrusive. It's also a good spot from which to explore the Neolithic ruins, as well as the local resort, though you need a car.
Any drawbacks? As one other reviewer commented, it's shabby chic, and therefore somewhat over-priced, but still very comfortable.

I had reserved rooms with baths 4 months in advance for me and my co-travelers for the month of May. We arrived at 9pm, the receptionist could not find the keys for the rooms. When he found them we realized that all the rooms had showers. When I entered my room, an horrible strong odor of cigar took me to the throat. No other room was available. I woke up with a terrible headache and no voice, since I could not let the window open, because the noise of the traffic on the road below was so loud. Until 2 a.m, the restaurant accross the road had a 'special animation" with loud speakers playing music and people clapping and screaming. You just wonder where some of these hotels get their stars!
Go to Corsica, it is one of the most wonderful place on earth, but be very discerning, get information, ask around, or go with an escorted tour.

Thank you for forwarding your guests feedback about their stay in Corsica and Le Miramar.
We can assure you that we take their comments very constructively.
Our philosophy is to continuously provide that 1500 guests each year with a pleasant experience of their stay at the Miramar.
If some details may have been overlooked, I can assure you that in such cases, the hotel representatives always attempt to remedy the situation and that corrective actions are immediately taken to improve the overall guest experience. I think that from the very beginning we tried to do all we could to make them happy.
Unfortunately, I believe that your guests had different expectations from the very beginning. In other words that may have had a different location and product in mind.
I look forward to the opportunity to welcome your guests again in the future.
Most Sincerely,

We've been to the hotel two years running in June. Several of the same employees were there which was nice. The standard of the restaurant and the level of service are excellent and easily the best around.
Lunchtime by the pool is elegant yet relaxing as shorts are perfectly acceptable. Breakfast on a terrace overlooking the sea or in the shady garden is a lovely start to the day. Propriano is a short drive away although the food at the hotel is so nice and the alternatives so average that you quickly realise staying at the hotel for dinner is probably best. All the employees are very friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The downside? The Suites are the best rooms although even they are not spacious. The standard bedrooms are below average and some only have a shower, which means that we thought they were overpriced. The decor in general could do with upgrading it does look a bit dated in places. Although it is located on the main road in the area the noise is not bothersome you just don't feel as though you are away from it all in the same way as if the hotel was in the middle of a few acres in the countryside. Beaches within 20mins drive are quiet and uncommercial. Supermarket on the edge of town is fantastic for daily picnics.
