About a 30 - 40 minute ride out of the centre of Chiang Mai but well worth the trip. Could not fault the service, the rooms, the food and value for money. We stayed in a standard room for 1575 baht per night and could see no reason to have to upgrade. It is part of the botanical gardens next door which you get free entry to. Well worth a ride around on a bike you hire for 2 hours at 30 baht. The village is big place and the restaurant a bit of a walk but no problem. The grounds around the complex re stunning. We stayed during the low season so not many people around. They have 2 restaurants normally open but only one when we stayed. We were given free transport back to the train station to continue our travels. I think that is the norm? The pools are beautiful and clean. A great place for all types. Young, old, families, it caters for all. We would not hesitate staying here again.

The hotel is located within a large botanical garden some 20 minutes outside of Chiang Mai. Fantastic and very attentative service, large, clean rooms and a very quiet environment enabling a good night's sleep makes it a pleasure to stay in this hotel. Only downside: The somewhat mediocre and often already cold food from the buffet.

About 30 minutes out of Chiang Mai, this resort was a perfect get away for our family. the gardens and grounds are the most beautiful I have ever seen at a resort. Bikes, pools, paddle boats, great food, Thai massage....lots to do without having to leave the resort at all. We purchased the Family Promotion and it was fantastic.
Room was very nice and clean, especially the bathroom.
My daughter accidently left her ipod there and when we called 3 days later, they had it for her. That speaks highly to me about the employees there!!
I would LOVE to go again- would not change a thing!!!

We spent 6 nights here - free shuttle to and from the airport which was great. The hotel is superbly designed so that you dont feel like you are right next door to anyone. The room we had looked out on to ponds and a lovely garden and was so peaceful... but then, the hotel is situated in the most gorgeous botanical garden which for anyone wanting to really chill out, this is the place to be!
The whole atmosphere of the hotel was peaceful and serene and very calming. Their spa provided some of the best and most professional massages that we have had and at very cheap rates.

The food was great - especially dinners which are good value and well presented and very tasty.
Yes, it is 10km from town but we liked that fact - we could go into the crazy busy city when we wanted and yet be away from it when we wanted - however, we were not after a nightlife - there are a few free shuttles in and out of town but we found just catching a yellow taxi in (off the road, for about 20 baht each) was very adequate but if you are coming home after 7pm then you need to get a red taxi which is about 400 baht in total or wait and catch the free shuttle.
There are three swimming pools on this property - two are saline and one fresh water -
this was also one of the few hotels we stayed in that provided a kettle to make tea/coffee in the room.
We woudl go back here any day - highly recommended - if you want a relaxed and quiet holiday

This was a beautiful place to be with good staff; good food; beautiful pool area and an amazing adjoining botanical garden. Only drawback was it s 25 min. distance from town so probably best for groups who wish to relax for a few days. Beds were a bit hard but thats the same all through Thailand

Done Bankok and Phuket several times and people always said 'go to Chang Mai'.
Thanks people because this is a wonderful place and the Horizon Village is superb. Two huge rooms (connecting), for $55 a night per room, with breakfast included(excellent), beautiful tropical gardens, pool, air-con that really works, and a great restaurant at about $10 a head including drinks. Yes it's 15 minutes out of the city and 400 baht in a taxi to get in ($12) and out but it's worth it. Free shuttle to and from the airport, free air-con Hotel taxi van to the city at 11.00am daily and every evening at 7pm (return 10pm ish ) for COOL night market shopping. In house massage, 2 hours for $20. Nothing seedy and great massage. Internet access is very good (wireless) and 500 baht ($12) for a week.

So much to do here (of course we timed our visit for the fireworks and lantern festival!!). but also what...cuddle a tiger, elephant rides, snake show, visit local school, 3km crazy rope slides etc etc. This is the 'Queenstown' of Thailand for those who are bored of beach holidays. Bring the kids / teenagers, this place (both Chang Mai and Horizon Village) is perfect for families.

My wife and I stayed at Horizon Village at approximately the same time as 'Antipodean Expat' in the earlier posting, and we agree that the hotel and its grounds are quite beautiful. We disagree about the comments regarding the internet, however, and about the service. 500 baht, in fact, pays for a full week's use of the internet, and a person who loses his or her access card should simply check with the reception. They have a record, after all, of who has paid for what.

In late June and early July, Chiang Mai hotels were badly affected by the 'Red shirt' violence in Bangkok, and the 'Bangkok Post' reported that hotel occupancy in Chiang Mai was between 10% and 20%. As a result, Horizon Village was certainly very quiet, and the restaurant did close early in the evening. However, the staff regularly phoned to our room to ask whether we wanted to eat before they made the decision to close. What was striking about the management of the hotel was that the owners were present seven days a week to supervise the work of the staff and to check on the welfare of their guests. How often do you find that nowadays?

We were very happy with the service in all areas of the hotel, and the young female receptionists might fairly described as reserved, but that is how polite young women are expected to behave in the provinces. We found that they spoke good English, but their reserve might have been due to a lack of confidence in the language ability.

We shall be in Chiang Mai again next year and we look forward to enjoying the comfort and quiet of Horizon Village and its beautful botanical gardens.
