i relished my time at rabeang pasak. after booking 2 nights, i extended my stay to 3, and was sad to leave even then. the treehouses are each unique, the scenery is stunning, and li and his family provide exceptional service. it was a relaxing retreat, after touring busy bangkok and chiang mai. it was so peaceful to relax by the stream, watch the chickens, dogs, kittens, ride my bike (for free) to nearby attractions, and then just show up for delicious meals. the car service was very convenient. i would go back in a heartbeat, and highly recommend it for travelers who want a retreat from chiang mai.

Rabeang Pasak resort is so beautiful! Mink and Lee are such wonderful people. Mink helped us find accommodations for the next part of our Journey and was an excellent host, telling us all about the area. Lee, such a sweetheart! You immediately fall in love with him and his cooking! The food is the best I have had in my 10 days in Thailand! The tree houses are amazing to see- built by the family- they are truly a work of art! This is a outdoor resort, so bugs are around, but no worse than camping and a little bug spray pretty much solves the problem. There is no air conditioning, but the nights are cool and the rooms are equipped with fans. I actually had to cover up near dawn as it cooled down even further! The out door shower with hot water was one of my favorites!

I've travelled to many countries with a diverse range of travel experiences over the past 30 years. I am happy to say that a stay at the Rabeak Pasang Treehouse Resort will rank very highly amongst my travels.

It is rare to find a combination of great lodgings, location, food and hospitality in the one place. Rabeak Pasang is one place that I will go out of my way to promote - to the right travellers.

It is not for everyone. It is not a tourist destination. It is for those wanting a unique travel experience. Just the mere fact that you will be staying in a tree house probably rules out the majority of travellers. However if you feel you are up to something different, read on for my longest ever Tripadvisor review.

65kms out of Chiang Mai. 1.5 hours. 20 years back in time....The resort can pre-arrange a return car transfer for 1600 baht. Recommended.

The resort consists of around 7 or so tree houses. The tallest being named Tamarind. Upon arriving, we chose the Bamboo House. Not up in a tree but in a clump of bamboo alongside a beautiful natural pool of water in the flowing creek. The houses are basic. Most have open air showers. Some more spacious than others. Each house has its own personality. All are located amongst trees and bamboo stands providing plenty of shade. No air-conditioning but not necessary as the nights are cool. All houses have outdoor areas for reading or just kicking back. Upon arrival, you generally have a choice of houses subject to availability.

Lets not call the people working here staff. They are a family whom you get to know very quickly. Mink, his wife Pinn and his father, Lee all provide a warm welcome. Nothing is too much bother.

The food is an additional cost to the very reasonable tariff. Don't worry as it is a nominal cost only. Delicious home cooked meals using local supplies, many of which they grow themselves. Breakfast, lunch and dinner all exceptional meals. Vegetarians catered for. The beer is icy cold!

After lunch the first day, we cooled off in the natural pond, then walked through the bush to a nearby waterfall and sunset views. The village is picturesque and very quiet. Not a tourist in site! The afternoon spent reading, relaxing and using the free wifi service. Three course dinner, a couple of beers and an early night.

At around 5am, we are gently woken by bells from the adjacent Bhuddist monastery. The only other noise is the flowing of the creek outside our window. Slept in until around 7am then an early morning jog. Following breakfast of fresh eggs cooked by Lee, he took us on a Jeep tour of nearby caves. Great fun riding in the back of the Jeep. Another delicious lunch. Starting to relax now after the faster pace of Chiangmai. Realising we have only one more night here, a simple decision is made to extend our stay - we honestly didn't think we would find a place so relaxing and enjoyable as staying right here. During the afternoon, we plan a tour of the village and trail through the bushland by bicycles provided by the resort. For the next day or so, we plan to do nothing. Just relax, read, eat and enjoy this little piece of paradise we thought had disappeared long ago.

Please read through the reviews by other guests here on Tripadvisor. They should reflect my thoughts. If they don't, then perhaps they were tourists who got a little bit lost. Do a youtube search for Rabeak Pasang Treehouse resort - I'll put up a short glimpse of the place for you. (Not really, I just want to star in a Tarzan Movie and this is the closest I will get! - So says Jane...)

MIng and his father in law are super friendly - and great cooks! and they keep very cold beer!!each cabin is unique and hand built - we were there for 2 nights with three teenagers and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. middle of nowhere and they still have internet (but limited mobile network - which is another reason to be there)

Room Tip: each room is an experience - we had two of them - one among the treetops and one with its own waterf...

If you feel like getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city for a few days, then this is the place to go. The whole atmosphere is so relaxed and the surrounding are tranquil. I spent 2 nights here and I was genuinely sad to leave. The owner, Mink, picked me up from the city and drove me out to the accommodation. On the way we stopped at a local market for some seasonal smoothies and he was full of interesting information about the area and Thailand in general. The food, cooked by Mink's father in law Lee, is absolutely amazing. I even had the opportunity to help him in the kitchen (you obviously don't have to cook your own food but I am interested in cooking and it was great to help out). Mink brings the guests to see the local waterfalls and some of the surrounding area. I had the best 2 nights sleep here, going to sleep with the night sounds of the forest and waking up to the sound of birds and animals. If you are not the princess type that needs to be pampered, then this place is a brilliant choice for a relaxing break.

Room Tip: I stayed in Jackfruit house. There is a nice area higher up than the house to sit among the trees wi...

This is not your average hotel. Your stay begins as soon as Mink (the hotel owner) picks you up. It is a long journey to the resort from Chiang Mai centre, but Mink is full of stories and makes it an enjoyable ride. The treehouses are obviously pretty basic, and located in a remote village in the middle of a teak wood forest, but then, if you're looking to stay in the lap of luxury you wouldn't be looking for it at the top of a tree anyway! Staying here even for only one night put a great big smile on my face from start to finish, and how many hotels are able to do that? It is basic, and it is remote, but that's all part of the charm. The resort and the staff have bags of character and that is something you can't put a price on.
