“I will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

What a beauty of a place! Perched high up in the tea hills of Sri Lanka, The Romance Vally sits directly on top of a hill, accessible only through a dirt road that winds up to the entrance of the villas. We used google maps so finding it was very easy, although I can see that it would be very easy to miss at night times. The property has 2 villas, sitting on top of each other. Both the villas are identical, with the one downstairs having an open air bathroom. Great spacious rooms, and fantastic views of the rolling hills ahead! Ideal place to get away from the hustle bustle of busy Sri Lanka, and a great vantage point to discover the rest the of Sri Lanka's tea hills. Gamini, the main housekeeper, was a lovely chap and went out of his way to make us feel at home (including sending us a text at midnight to wish us a happy new year!). The Sri Lankan food was delicious and we had the options of eating anywhere around the property. The infinity pool, while clean, was freezing cold, and the deck area caught a fair bit of sunshine. The rooms were extremely spacious, minimalistically designed (lots of wooden furniture and glass windows) and perfect for a serene getaway. No amenities are provided with the room (except for soap). Tv and dvds are provided in each room as well. A word of caution though - there are LOTS of bugs this high up in the hills - we spent the better part of the first night squatting mosquitoes and trying to rid our room from all sorts of bugs! Keep an eye out for the fireflies that light up your balcony after sundown - a truly magical experience. I highly recommend this place for travelers who want to get away from it all, and yet be a part of this truly beautiful part of Sri Lanka.

Room Tip: Choose the villa downstairs with a direct view of the infinity pool and open air bathrooms.

I have been to this wonderful place some time back with my family upon a recommendation of a friend. This place is super awesome where one must spend at least one good day to experience the homely feeling it gives. The architectural value of this is place is priceless and that is what differentiates it from an ordinary guest house. One of the unique features of this place that touched my heart was the magnificent scenery through the glass walls at night when the lights are turned off ! This is not like any lodge you find in the upcountry of Sri Lanka, but the best if tranquility and relaxation are the expectations of your visit. So never think twice of being there because no doubt that will save you a lifetime experience..

I had the opportunity to spend a couple of days at this beautiful place surrounded by hills with a few of my friends. It's an ideal place for those who want to get away from the busy hassle and noise of the city to enjoy a peaceful holiday. I absolutely loved the tranquil atmosphere. The food was really amazing and we enjoyed our meals at the little place built outside despite the cold. The roof top gives you the chance to star gaze in the night.

Even though I went with my friends, I'd like to recommend it as a perfect honeymoon getaway especially coz it's very private unlike the hotels you may choose. The atmosphere is so romantic and you can enjoy a dip in the infinity pool while enjoying the surroundings.

If you are looking for romantic getaway or a serene holiday with your loved ones, romance valley is the ideal place you've been looking for.

This place was found on Searching of place to stay in Haputale. It is the place we enjoy vary much in our stay in Sri Lanka. The ROMANCE VALLEY a perfect getaway of typical Hotel Atmosphere and vary much convenient place to make us indulge with surrounding and the Hospitality. The Villa is vary private kind locate between the Hills and run by two people and they make you feel home away from home.. Food was lovely not a typical hotel buffet type ... they will make as you like ... ask Sri Lankan Curry meal ..they will do it to vary mild hot but vary tasty... you can tell your choice... we stay four nights and went around to see WORLDS ENDS which is close by and one hour drive from the villa. The LIPTON SEAT is another attraction you will see 280 degree view .. and also visited YALA to see wild life .. for that you have to leave early and will take 2 hr drive..otherwise stay and relax by the pool.. The pool is small and bit of unusual colour of tile to match the green surrounding we were mistaken at the beginning it was dirt.. but not... .. ....... Rooms are cosy... and Large ... nearly 90 m2... Large bath room.. largest we have experience in Sri Lanka... Private Living will make you soaked with nature...It is a special place ..dont expect typical hotel amenities... The place itself is a Marvel...

Room Tip: Bothe rooms are same.. Dinning on terrace is lovely at Night.

It is indeed nice place to spend your holiday , We arrived there in night narrow road along the valley winding up on hills, it is quite amazing view up there towards the southern coast of Sri lanka. The two suite private villa gives you the ultimate relaxation. The moon light was bless for us, and had a good dinner on terrace. We woke up in the morning with fantastic view of the hills and valley surrounded by you. The late glass panel in windows make you feel the whole nature around us... Food was nice but limited choice, it is well presented and tasty. There is a small pool for just good enough for dip .. not for serious swimming.... This is place you Enjoy differently.. Get some book to read ... There is no Bar .. go with bottle of wine you will enjoy it with the setting... ask for Beer they may have those....Spacious room...with large toilet...

Room Tip: top room is ideal,,... but any way you are almost at 5000 ft high.... Dine at lower terrace is super...

This is the place we enjoy vary much in our stay in Hills of Sri Lanka , I am Living here for Last 14 years but came across this place in vary recently. It is indeed a get away of city life. The place is surrounded by Hills and Valley also one could see the costal area on clear day. Super climate not cold not hot.. The place has only two big suite which has Living and bed room also a Large toilet. Room has panoramic view of the Mountain. The two men running the place is great and always helpful.. We did all our Visit from there and the trip to Hortain Place is superb.. Food is good and tasty...... This is a place you will enjoy with isolation , do not expect all typical hotel amenities. ..Enjoy the serenity and the Nature.

Room Tip: Dine out under the Jack tree with the sound of water stream down there

My partner and I along with another couple was totally attracted to this place when we saw the photos on the web. And after the long drive from Colombo we finally reached this unusual location. As we walked in, it was simply breath-taking, and the view just cannot be described in words! Its just 2 rooms, and so was perfect for us. The room was well equipped, clean and cozy. The bathroom was truly romantic!!! The best was the marvelous view from the 2 huge glass walls. Felt like being lost in paradise. This is certainly not the place for anyone who want a lot of commercialized activities and perfect city roads. But if you are nature lovers like us, and want a calm and peaceful break away from the city rush, then this is simply perfect to relax your mind and body! The plunge pool is lovely and creates a romantic atmosphere at dusk. We saw a beautiful sunset. The menu offers simple yet tasty meals. You can either eat in your room or outside. The staff are very friendly and polite inspite of not being very good with the English language. We stayed 4 nights and did some bird-watching (take a pair of binoculars), walked around the area (excellent for working out a good appetite), read a book on the pool deck (take your books) and played cards over a couple of bottles of wine (take your card pack and wine). Totally refreshing! Planning on going there again later this year.

Room Tip: They don't operate a bar. So you would need to take your own liquor. If you want to watch a few...
