“Villa Tavolese - Still a great value!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Villa Tavolese is located in a very small town of Marcialla, but perfectly situated with in 30 minutes of many great Tuscan sites such as Florence, San Gimingnano, Volterra, Sienna, and the Chianti region with its many wonderful small towns. The price is about $100 per night including a breakfast of coffee, juices, rolls and coissants, fruit, cold cuts, cereals, yogurt, toast and jams (cheese and hard boiled eggs have dissappeared since 2009; I presume due to the economy.) The rooms are large, comfortable; beds are large and comfortable; bathrooms are large with shower en suite. The view from the rooms is wonderful; generally a southwest exposure to view the Tuscan sunsets. Pool is very nice, but don't expect warm water in late September or October. Area restaurants are excellent; but all food is quite pricey in Italy. Expect to pay $20-40 per person including a beer or glass of wine. McDonalds, thank God, is no where to be found. Fernando, Tracey, and Gina were all very helpful especially with restaurant reservations and travel tips.

Room Tip: Room 126 on the thrid level with a southwest exposure to the setting Tuscan sun is wonderful!

I had my wedding at the villa and I can't say enough good things about Tavolese. I planned a wedding from very far away and that comes with a lot of stress but when I got there the villa, the scenery and the location were everything I'd hoped they would be and more. And the staff, Fernando was helpful every step of the way and I couldn't have done it without him. My guests had a great time and I am so grateful.

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous having read some recent reviews before we left, but the hotel must have read them, too, because the place was very good!
I guess we were lucky that the young lady with glasses and long hair was working while we were there...she could not have been nicer and more accommodating. We were leaving early two day before the 8 AM breakfast and she made sure it was ready for us at 7:45! She was helpful with directions and reservations.
The coffee machine wasn't the best coffee...but she tried to help us by showing us different combinations to try! It got us up and going! My husband was hoping that Italy would adopt the American take away cup...we really need our morning coffee jolt!
The view from the room wiped out any negatives! The view from the room and from the patio was absolutely incredible!!!! We spent some time each evening on the patio enjoying the view and enjoying some wine and snacks (we picked up snacks at Coop). It was a spot where many people gathered, and we enjoyed the interaction with the other guests.
Room was huge with floor to ceiling windows. It was clean. Bathroom was a good size. Shower was good. We could hear people on the patio when we got to bed and people above us, but most people were not up too late since everyone was busy all day!
Pool was clean.
Town was small, not touristy. A bit off the beaten path, but we liked that!
I would surely stay there again, and I would recommend it to friends.

The Hotel is in the middle of Siena and Florence, Lucca, S.Gimignano and Volterra. Perfect location and even with a beautiful view over the surroundings. But the quality is not worth the money. The service was the worst we ever had, the asian lady at the reception is so unfriendly, she just said no to every request we had and we didn't ask for much. The rooms are very spacious and having a great view but are definitely not clean. The breakfast is just poor. Come on you are in the Tuscany, should be easier to get a nice breakfast but everything they have is packed and very basic and it is a buffet, so no further requests. They didn't serve any other meals - no explanation why as they are having a restaurant. We just went there because we were going to a wedding near by and everybody stayed at the hotel, but would never go there if I could choose on my own.

Hi,
we stayed for 5 night at Hotel Tavolesse, which is recorded for 4 stars when you book and pay but there you see that the hotel has only 3 stars. this is not very important aspect if you do not consider the dust from the rooms and the "hospitality" of the people.
when we arrived there and complain about the rooms (the curtains and carpets were not cleaned for years) we were invited to look or another hotel, if we do not like. "nobody forces you to stay here if you do not like" were the words of the owner (!!!!) of the pace.
even if the view is nice, and the place is very quiet, our friend alergic to dust has problems with it.
the towels were ok, they were clean and changed every day, but it is too less in comaprison with the rest.
the rooms are very big, but in some rooms the floor has some greasy spots.
the smell of the rooms are in the same line with the cleaning.
the breakfast consists of only things packed and again the personnel is very unfriendly,
for example your're not allowed to keep your plate on the buffet when you put something on it, (I never saw something like this in my entire life), so they take it and put it on another table, and you need to make a lot of ways to fill it with what you need.
the value price-quality for sure does not worth!
I wouldn't do it again!

We came from Israel for 9 days in Italy, spent half of it in Tuscany, all 4 nights in this hotel. Lovely Villa, spectacular view from rooms in upper floor. nice staff, speak good english, gay friendly. The price for one night is a bit high but if you stay 4 nights you get the last night for free which makes it a good deal. Breakfast included but it is not a catch. good location between San Gimingano and Firenze.
