“Ok experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The rooms are clean and nicely outfitted with glass pieces, but the Internet connection is painfully slow (I work and live in West Africa, so that's saying something). We were given a room with two twin beds which was a bit of a pain. Spa/gym are nice and the restaurant, while only having a limited menu is good. Great location to base oneself to travel to the glass blowing studios in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a queen/king bed at the desk when checking in. Rooms on the 2nd floor seemed a bit nicer.

This hotel is really nice. New, well kept, with friendly and helpful staff. The design is fresh and gives a very modern setting. Each room uniquely decorated by a glass artist in the Kosta Boda team.
You can use both the gym, small but with OK equipment, and the SPA that has indoor and outdoor pools, saunas and a pool bar when you need refreshments. Our visit was just for one night, I would not mind to stay two nights next time we go to that part of Sweden

If you're in the center of Sweden's glass district and want a nice place to stay, this is your choice! And generally a pretty good one. The rooms are lovely, and good sized by Scandinavian standards, which means small by American ones. The bath is well equipped with conditioner and lotion in tubes, but the hotel has succumbed to the new idea of soap/shampoo combined squeeze bottles. Not up to snuff in this class of property.

Very clean! And the chance to browse art glass by Kosta-Boda-Orrefors's top designers is great. As is the shop which offers ten percent discounts.

Exceedingly friendly and helpful staff!

So what's not to like? The breakfast!! It's skimpy in variety and size, and the quality just isn't what they should be putting out in a hotel of this nominal standard.

The "glass bar" should not be missed. And the bar menu food is very tasty, reasonably priced, and the portions are very large.

A tip: Many have said that the hotel is expensive. Its not cheap, but if you walk in with no reservations and ask for a room for the night, they will almost instantly give you a 'last minute discount,' something fairly rare in Sweden. And it amounted to about 20%, so not small change.

A side trip: If you want to see brilliantly beautiful art glass being made in a small master works, drive down the road to Tarnsjo, a 'glasbruk' started for research and teaching by two of Kosta's best artists and frequented by American master, Dale Chihuly. You can photograph from the shop floor, maybe three or four feet from the furnace. But you might be asked to take a step back when the glass sculptor is coming through with a gather of hot glass.

We stayed here since it was Småland´s best hotel with a pool. For the kids! And it delivered. The glass art was nice, the service nicer and the spa was the best. Really fresh, clean, warm and equipped. Everything up and running. The breakfast also delivered. But: the massive building and almost everything being over-sized, it gave a slight communist feeling on the architecture and setting.

The hotel is pretty new and very well decorated with glass artwork. The spa is nice as well. The restaurant is not on par. If you are looking for activities in the area (glass blowing, fishing, ...), do not use the hotel staff who gave us poor and expensive recommendations.

We stayed there from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning. The hotel is experience for itself, a modern mimimalistic Scandinavian design, yet very special with beautiful glass art work. Each corridor with rooms is designed by designer who's name you can read at entry, and each room is unique. We were in Lindgreen's room, not very big, but cozy with all we needed (although missed bed for two instead of poorly attached twin beds). Really beautifull interior! The breakfast buffet was fine, with the glasses used there that add a quality to the taste of pretty standard food. The spa facilities are excellent, and I had great joy in having the wonderfull pool for myself at 7:30 a.m. There is a hot pool outside, and you can use it regardless of cold outside (we were there in mid January). After the stay in hotel we spent few hours in excellent glass shops and really price breaking fashion outlet, situated next to the hotel.
