Not an ideal place! i think they have taken advantage of the fact that there're no other hotels in town! Breakfast was good, staff were friendly, location was good but could have been cheaper...overal just ok!!

Nässjö is a major rain junction in Sweden. I read somewhere during my stay that this hotel is within something like 3 hours of 85% of the population of Sweden, which I thought was interesting. This is the only hotel in town and we were here for a 2-day hockey tournament so there was no choice. We stayed over a Friday and Saturday night. When we booked, the staff apologized already for the noise, saying there was a party booked in the disco for the Saturday night. They put us on the top floor, the 9th floor to get us away from the noise. The hotel itself is right across the street from the train station, maybe a 50 m walk from the platforms at most. There are lots of restaurants nearby, and a large restaurant in the hotel itself. When we arrived on Friday, the staff apologized again saying another party had been booked into the disco for the Friday night. We had no choice but to stay, and it was loud, very loud. The building is an old concrete structure so the bass climbs the beams and you get to listen to "whump whump whump" until the music shuts down. There also is no sound tarp or whatever outside, so when the partiers spill out onto the street at the end of the evening guests are entertained by 30 minutes of "whoo hooos". So, very little sleep. The free wifi was good, the breakfast was good, the decor is a bit rundown, but that is part of the charm, I think. I really wanted to like this hotel because I like small towns e t c, but 2 nights in a row with no sleep at the reasonably stiff price they charge was a bit much. When the staff apologizes at the time of booking, pay attention! It may have been better to stay 50 km away in another town and make the drive each day, but taking the train was part of the charm of the trip.

Room Tip: Rooms are small but clean. The higher the better to get away from the disco.

I had to stay here for two nights, there seemed to be few alternatives in Nässjö. The hotel is conveniently situated near the railway station and the small town centre. It has a night club and I was kindly warned when booking that there would be partying as the schools had just finished but I was given a room on the top floor which was far away from the noise. Checkin was swift and the staff friendly and helpful, even got me some fruit when I asked for it one evening. The room was quite small but as I only used it for sleeping it worked fine. Sound-proofing seemed good. Clean and comfortable beds. Breakfast was adequate, nothing special. The hotel has free parking. Standard-wise it resembled an average Scandic hotel in small-town Sweden, but with less value for money (i e comparatively high priced even if I was given a small discount). I never tried the restaurant but it did not look very inviting. There is apparently a spa associated with the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on top floors are well away from Friday and Saturday night street noise.

I just had the one single in my room so it was very small compared to what you would usually find but it was fine and it was clean.

There was quite good food in the restaurant too.

Wifi was a bit intermittent though so was not easy to do work in the room.

Close, walking distance, to the railwaystation. A hotel from the 1950-ies. Rundown and needs a major overhaul. Breakfast and restaurant is good. Indoor parking available.
OK for one nigth. Try and bargain the roomrate.

Room Tip: Get a room in the newer part.

WHY:
Whenever there is a fair in Jönköping (Elmia), all the hotels there are fully booked at least a year in advance. That is why I always prefer hotel Högland.

ROOMS:
It's an old hotel, but clean and with all the comfort you need for business stay: working desk, free wireless internet, lcd tv with free movie channel,...

GETTING AROUND:
Be aware: you need a car to get around though! The hotel has free outside parking and payed inside parking.

RESTAURANT:
Very limited choice and not the most modern setting, but VERY VERY GOOD FOOD!

Not a dream destination for leisure travellers, but convenient for business! Take a look at the map of Sweden though before booking there, because it's not a central location!
