“A Getaway to West Texas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Had the pleasure of spending three days at the Lajitas Golf Resort, and was extremely pleased with the property and the staff that went out of there way to be sure we were satisified. Debbie was a staff member who went above and beyond to be sure everything was just right! She is "special"! We played golf and the scenery is UNBELIEVABLE....A great experience! I could continue but rather than ...just book it and you will see!

Room Tip: corner suite officers quarters..a great view overlooking the golf coarse

This place is big and beautiful - just like Texas! There is so much to do right around the Lajitas resort, you really don't have to leave. We brought two 10 year old boys and stayed busy the entire time! From hiking and swimming to the cowboy shootout, horseback riding and the fossil museum/dig, we didn't even have time for golf.
The staff is so friendly and helpful too! They set up an open fire for us so we could roast s'mores after eating at the great restaurant on site.
We stayed in a suite at La Cuesta. The cowboys chic decor was nice and comfortable, and we certainly slept well too. The rooms were very spacious, and the mexican tile floors were just the right look. We loved the large grass area in front of the rooms on the way to the pool; it gave our dog a good place to run.

Hotel is located just outside Big Bend NP alongside Rio Grande. It is well located to explore the area and so met our needs.
The architecture on main building is inspired by stereotypical western towns. We stayed two nights in the Badlands hotel where our room was both quiet and comfortable. The ambience lighting was nice but there was no means to really brighten the room which could have been a little cleaner.
We did eat breakfast one morning in the hotel cafe. The servings were huge (Texas sized pancakes are just that!) one serving will feed at least two.
We found the activities coordinator to be particularly helpful. We booked a sunset horse ride to Stargazer Mesa. The outing was very enjoyable but one should know that, if all goes well, your horse ride should return you to stables before darkness falls so the name “Stargazer” is somewhat a misnomer.
Our other dinner was at the nearby Starlight Theater in Terlingua (highly recommend).
Overall our experience at Lajitas was such that we would recommend.

Great resort, very nice rooms, had a room over looking the golf course in the officer's quarter. The resort is built on an old fort, some of the ruins are still there and others were restored to be the new resort. First class restaurant, (pricey) not any other place around to eat unless you drive to Terlingua 12 miles away. We rode horses at dawn, just a lovely experience all the way.Quite place. Great views of the mountains. Everyone was friendly. Loved it!!

Room Tip: Get a room over looking golf course in the officers quarters, huge room with a sitting room.

Just got back from a 4 night trip to the Lajitas Resort in Big Bend area of Texas. All I can say is that it was more than we expected and the scenery is stunning! The resort was a pleasant surprise - beautifully maintained, spacious room in the Officer's Quarters, excellent food and service allthe way around. Although we don't golf, we were able to rent a golf cart and drive the course, which goes up into the mountains and has breathtaking views. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours. We also took the 2 hour trailride on horses and went to the top of the mountain with a view that went on for miles. This was our first trip to Big Bend, and I didn't realize how beautiful the area is - although I wouldn't go in the middle of summer, we will definitely go again - and stay at Lajitas Resort. Don't miss Terlingua Ghost Town, Starlight Theater and La Kiva - they're all unique and full of character. The drive from Lajitas to Presideo is every bit as beautiful as the National Park - you should definitely do both. Just can't say enough about how much we both enjoyed this trip!

Room Tip: Paying a little extra for the Officer's Quarters with a view is well worth it. Rooms at the end...

This is their motto, and it couldn't be more true! What a gem in the desert! Comfortable, quiet, spacious rooms (pet friendly, too!), fun bar with live music, great restaurant, and a friendly, helpful staff. Kaci, the activities director, went out of her way to help us schedule things to do and Jerry at the front desk arranged a special photo op for my husband. Located between Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park (which, by the way, is bigger than all the other Texas state parks combined with some acreage to spare), there is so much to see and do here: horseback riding, river trips, hiking, mountain biking, shooting, ATV rides, sunset cook-outs over open fires, spa, golf, etc. Don't miss the morning drive along Texas 170 (River Road) from Lajits to Presidio! We're already counting the days until we can get back to this wonderful desert oasis!

Room Tip: We were in the Officer's Quarters, and since we had a pet, it was nice to have a separate sittin...
