“Oldfashioned Italian food, ..... but so delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Staying in B&B Desanzo, the lady of the house recommended us this restaurant....
When you enter this place, it seems like you're flashed back into the beginning of the past century... A sober, little embellished, place with a few tables, not really cosy, but............... when the lady of the house appears, everything is changing... She speaks not one word English, but with a lot of Italian flair and a big smile she lets you feel really welcome....
And then the food: we went 3 times in 4 days and everything we have eaten was delicious; the first day, we had the special fish menu, served a few times a year: oysters, prawns, scampi, carpaccio of tuna and swordfish, .... everything fresh and very tasty; the next days we tried the pasta with black truffles, the manzo fillet, and so on... everything served with delicious and fair priced local wines...... Just the perfection....
It's completely outside the center of Desenzano, but well worth the visit....

“Off the main track...a hidden gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

This place is not on the harbour but is worth finding. It has a different atmosphere from other restaurants because it is quieter, calmer and the hostess does not speak English. However she is happy for you to mime and she is incredibly friendly! The best thing is the quality of the food. It was delicious.

“Perfectly prepared pasta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

You can not fault the pasta here - it all tastes home made, and delicious. I had duck ravioli that was superior compared to anything you can get in the center of town. My daughter had truffle tortellini that was richly covered in truffle, and she finished it to the last bit. The portions for the primi here are generous, and the service is gracious and very kind. If you are expecting what you know from your supermarket at home as "real Italian", this is not only a pleasant lesson, but a way to sincerely appreciate true Italian cooking (and not the stuff in the jar or from the microwave we get in restaurants in other European countries - or even in the center of Desenzano for twice the price).

“Perfetto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

A real Italian restaurant run by husband and wife from the moment we walked through the door we were given a very friendly welcome, firstly we were asked if it was too hot which we were as we had just walked up the hill and the AC was turned up high.
The service was excellent for the whole meal this lady runs the front of house singled handed and delivers service that other restaurants cannot deliver with a multitude of staff. The Lady does not speak English but even if your Italian is not very good she will help you understand.
The food was excellent and brought out with the right amount of time between courses we went there at 7.30 and left at 10.30 after 4 courses and a bottle of Prosecco a very relaxing evening dinner. As other reviewers have said it is a walk up hill in the old town but very much worth it.
Go early then enjoy the town on the lake front in the late evening when its just coming to life.
We ate there on our last two nights, wish we had gone earlier.

“Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

Off the beaten track from the town centre, but well worth the treck
Imagine if your mum was Italian and running a restaurant . This would be my mums restaurant
Classic surroundings, bit austere, homely crockery, was trendy in 1930 and a gentle lady ( the owner) running the show, with only one aim..... To ensure you have a great meal
Pasta with black truffles and spaghetti with lobster to start, huge portions of fresh fish for main, a panna cotta to die for. Wine list a bit limited (this would definitely be my mum!) but with a bottle, the whole bill was €75!!!!
I'm only in town for 2 days, but tonight I'm tracking back.... Unless you want Michellin prices, pizza or umbrellas in your drinks, it's a no brainer! Recommend ++++
