“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

I stayed at Hotel Piroscafo for two nights late April 2014. The room was a good size and large bathroom ( for Italy). The prize was not too expensive. It is located on the main piazza and very close to the boats. It is a beautiful location. The hotel has bar that has happy hour every night. They serve you some tasty food with your drinks. A nice breakfast is also included. I took a taxis to and from train station. Maybe a little too far to walk with luggage.

sweet little hotel on the old harbour, rooms were spotless and bed was comfy, lovely view from our balcony, ideal for the ferry and every where. found desenzano very expensive, only designer shop locally but some lovely local restaurants

Room Tip: harbour view rooms are small but a small price to pay for the lovely view especially nice in late af...

A fantastic little place on a picturesque boat harbor and piazza. If possible, book in advance and request balcony rooms on the front of the hotel. Enjoy the view with a nice bottle of wine and antipasti as my wife and I did.
Very helpful and pleasant staff and an above average breakfast buffet. You won't be disappointed!

This is an old, but nice hotel situated right on the picturesque harbor. Our standard room was fine, not many extras, but all the standard ones you need, except that wifi did not work in the room and we had to use the nice inside/outside communal landing on the 2nd floor, where the reception was great. The hotel is walkable from the train station - just remember when exiting the station, walk across the round-about and head straight-ahead and down the hill. Keep walking straight all the way until you reach the harbor and you'll then see the hotel. we enjoyed their nice breakfast outside on their terrace in the morning.

Room Tip: Be careful of room #18 on the 3rd floor - has a shelf placed in a dangerous location right over the...

As a teenager on holiday with parents, this holiday was a trip of a lifetime and this hotel was ideal for me. It's nothing overly fancy but it's a great hotel because it covers everything you need for accommodation without distracting you from the beautiful culture and interesting, bustling town. Inside the room it was incredibly clean and tidy as the rooms get cleaned every day. The beds were comfortable and there was a good amount of room to store things. The bathroom was perfectly fine, and even came with complimentary shower gel and soap and mini samples of other essential items such as sun screen and some sort of scrub. The air conditioning system was invaluable as we weren't used to such high temperatures!
We didn't pay extra for the rooms with the view of the town as we were in the town so much, we didn't really feel the need for it. Also there is a lovely, large balcony at the front of the hotel with views of the town and the marina and the lake to the far right which was excellent for taking pictures and relaxing on the sun loungers or at the tables.
The breakfast in the morning was one of the highlights of my stay; cakes, croissants, fresh juice, meats, breads, fruits, cereals, cheeses, jams and nutella etc, and one of the very friendly staff came over and asked if we wanted any hot drinks like tea or coffee - which was such a nice touch. All of the staff were very lovely and attentive and would try to help with any questions or problems we had.
The location was excellent, we didn't really hear any noise from other guests, but as we were in the centre of a bustling town, if we left our windows open there was a fair amount of noise from the streets.
The hotel itself doesn't do food but there are many excellent restaurants very close and around the town. If you want superb ice cream for 1€ a ball - 'Tourists' is the best place to go.
There is a train station in Desenzano, which is quite a walk from the centre of town, but there are regular trains to Verona, Venice, Milan etc, which is great if you want a fairly inexpensive day trip.
All in all, the hotel and the town were an excellent place to stay with many things to do! I would definitely return there another year

I just want to say how much my husband & myself enjoyed our stay in Sept 2013 at the Piroscafo. The staff were very helpful & polite at all times. The buffet breakfast was good, plenty of choice. The rooms are lovely & cleaned & towels are replaced everyday. It is a great location, for getting out & about on the local transport. The train station is 20mins, buses 4mins, & the ferry 3mins. We used all of them during our 10day holiday, visiting Venice, Verona, Brecia,Milan all by train, very good service & cheap.

This hotel was very comfortable, pleasant staff and excellent varied breakfast. The best thing about the hotel is its location as it is right in the heart of the main centre of Desenzano and very close to Lake Yards. We had a room at the back which was fine but there was some noise from the walkway below and neighbours but it was in the centre of all the bars and restaurants so not unexpected.

Room Tip: As others have said pay extra for a room at the front. We cannot all afford that!
