“Beautiful, quiet, historical, wonderful hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2014

This is a place of peace, tranquility and beauty. The host/owners, are most generous with their time and make every effort to understand your likes and dislikes and assist you in having a good experience at their beautiful, historical chateau and the region.

We were always given a generous breakfast with many delicious items made by Madame Sylvie in addition to the local boulangerie and cheese purveyors. She also set the table with her great, great, great grandmother's dishes every morning. They have renovated the chateau with guests in mind while maintaining the historical look and feel. The cooks kitchen where we ate is original to the early time of the chateau and a showpiece.

There are opulent, very historical suites with original art and decor and also lovely modest rooms, all well appointed with new bathrooms. Very clean and nicely decorated in period decor.
We recommend the hosts, Chateau Bonnemare and the region for beauty and interesting sights.

Their recommendations gave us a wonderful experience we would not have had to little known places we would not have gone on our own and we are experienced travelers.

The chateau is beautiful and conveniently placed for visiting Normandy. The suites would be excellent for honeymooners but the good value cheaper rooms are also excellently decorated and very comfortable. Lovely hosts and breakfast.

We spent 4 nights of our honeymoon in April in this wonderful, old chateau. Perfect place to get away from the world and enjoy privacy. It really takes you back in time. The suites are huge and beautifully decorated. We enjoyed the lovely hospitality of Silvie and Alain. The highlight of the mornings were the delicious breakfasts in the kitchen at the wooden table with the fire in the open fireplace in the background. Silvie helped us to plan our trips every day and gave us a tour in the chateau, chapel and in the cider house with all the historical information. We couldn't wish for a better place to have our honeymoon. We are recommending it with all our heart. Thank you Silvie and Alain! (and sorry for the late review)

Chateau de Bonnemare is beyond the standard rating system. A truly magnificent magical place. Beautiful dreamy Chateau, amazing rooms, and a superb breakfast. The charming hosts will help with information... we never wanted to leave.

I really do not have much to add to the reviews of other guests of this unique chateau.
The moment you pass its front gate, it is like going back into the 16th century.

The whereabouts, the exterior and the interior of the chateau and the furniture, paintings and decoration of its living rooms and guest rooms, the ambiance of the place and the serenity of the surroundings will help you immerse yourself in history and feel like a nobleman traveling in time.

Beyond its tasteful and balanced restoration and very beautiful location, this excellent chateau has an additional advantage: the cozy politeness and relaxed hospitality of its hosts, Sylvie and Alain that have their way of making their guests feel both unique and at home.

My wife, my teenage son and I stayed at the chateau for 5 nights and we enjoyed the environment, the chateau and the reception and the friendly attitude of our hosts very much.

We have been traveling to northern France for vacations regularly for the last 12 years and we have visited many chateaux and hotels.
Having stayed at both average, good and excellent places, we would wholeheartedly recommend Chateau de Bonnemare as a place of relaxation, elated serenity and "luxurious retrospect".

We deeply thank Sylvie and Alain for making our stay there really something to remember and talk about and we would definitely like to visit it again for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs have an even better view of the extensive estate.

We stayed in Chateau Bonnemare for 3 nights in early July. What a beautiful chateau! It was immaculate! The owners Sylvie and Alain are wonderful! They made us feel very welcome. We don't speak any French but they were able to speak English, so it made it easy for us. The breakfast was wonderful--especially Sylvie's homemade jams. We would definitely stay in this chateau again! Thank you Sylvie and Alain for sharing your beautiful chateau with us!
