“Great food and wine in an interesting venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

My family and I stumbled across La taverna around 1pm and were directed down to the cellar. The atmosphere is worth the visit, rooms and nooks decorated with all sort of items.
Our waiter knew his wine well and discussed the local vino rosso we chose to accompany our meals. The bruschetta was excellent, the ravioli in butter with sharp cheese was also excellent but a bit on the small side with only 5 pieces of pasta. The lasagne was a hit with our 7yo daughter and my wife loved her soup. Total bill of 38 euro was reasonable.

“Originality at it's best”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012

We visit this restaurant during the Truffle Festival (last weekend in October & first weekend in November). What a delight. The 'Enoteca' on the ground floor is superb, but the real surprise is downstairs in the Roman Cellar. Several tables in little nooks, cosy atmosphere and much better than average service for Italy. The menu stood out as it offers different food from what you see on every other menu. The Wild Boar with Olives and Chocolate sauce was mouth watering, and the Hot Brie, Pear & Ham was delicious. A great little find.

“Nice place to drink some wine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

You have to go through the shop to go down into the restaurant, it is located in the cellar with beutiful ceilings and walls.
The decoration is not everybodys taste, with statues of angels and a bit of a gothic/twilight touch.

We went here only for drinks as recommended by our hotel and we weren't dissapointed. The wine list was large and the prices are fair. The service was alright, we were one of the only people there and we rarely saw someone, they were upstairs in the kitchen.

After our second wine they served us bruchetta, which was a very nice gesture.

“Unpretentious quality food and service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012 via mobile

We stopped for lunch and sat outside on the small terrace opposite the restaurant / deli. The wild boar, chocolate and polenta was very tasty as was my wife's pasta with wild boar ragu. Although we sat outside, I imagine sitting inside of an evening would be an experience. In any case have a nosey!
