“Nearly perfect”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

We loved Volterra, and the hotel was wonderful. Lisa, one of the owners, was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was AMAZING. The best breakfast we had in all of Italy. We enjoyed the breakfast area and chatting with other guests. Our room had a balcony, which we loved having. The view from the rooftop terrace was exceptional. Some of my favorite Italy pictures are ones we took from that terrace. We did have one difficult issue, however, and that was with the shower. It was scalding hot, and no amount of fiddling with the lever helped. Forgoing a shower that night, we tried again in the morning. After a great deal of trying, we were able to get the shower to be a somewhat decent temperature (barely), but the water pressure was nearly negligible. We did mention this to Lisa, and apparently other guests have too. But on the positive side, we did find out that our room (#26) was the only one in the whole hotel with a balcony. Cool!

Room Tip: Room 26 has the balcony. But unlocking the door takes some finesse!!

“Perfect place to stay in the center of Volterra”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012 via mobile

I can't say more than the other review didn't already mentioned, we had a room facing the street, yes it is noisy but charming so closed off your window at night and turn on the fan (though I am a vast sleeper so it didn't bother me), the service is EXCELLENT (notice the caps lock? Yeah that's because the service is that great), the staff are super friendly and helpful (I have to mentioned that the day we arrived the hot water and the wifi didn't work, but it was fixed the next day, so no real issue there), the rooftop terrace is great to hang out and read a book and the location is superb for gelato, food and drinks as it is in the centre of the action!! Adding the great breakfast, and presto you are staying at the best value hotel of Volterra!

“Albergo Etruria, the place you'll want to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

We had a room with high windows opening on the street, busy with people walking & talking (Volterra is limited access for cars). It took a a while before we found that it was best to close the windows and shutters at night, activate the fan (excellent details!), for an undisturbed rest (we are no early risers). But it was nice to hang out of these same windows and watch people.
Great staff here, always a smile and advise on the ready.
Superb breakfast. That roofterrace is great too. And a very nice lounge with a pc and comfortable seats & sofas for reading in peace and quiet. Good value for money Great place!!!

“Good hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2012

The hotel itself was fine, the rooms were decent sized and clean, good shower and some wardrobe space (although shelves/drawers wouldn't go amiss!) Breakfast was a real treat, the best we had in Tuscany. The garden was also a lovely feature. For the location & price I would say you can't go wrong.

My only gripe - I booked in January 2012 and having read reviews on here at that time requested 2 double rooms at the back of the hotel. On arrival in August 2012 I was told that there was only 1 room available at the back and 1 at the front. Let me say that the rooms at the front of the hotel are as noisy as other reviewers have commented on. The first night the party outside our room went on til 3am and the dustbin men arrived at 5.30am. On top of this there is no air conditioning so you have a choice of being very warm at night, or opening the windows and being kept awake by the noise (I tried my trusty earplugs, they made no difference). What really bugged me though, was that we were told by another couple who arrived earlier in the day that on arrival wthey ere not happy with room they have been given being in the front of the hotel and so requested to be moved back....they duly were which meant that despite having requested a back room some 8 months previously, our request was not met.

The hotel was good, but the failure to meet our request, to move other customers on the day we were due to arrive, and the noise we then experienced, did leave a slightly bad taste.

“Amazing, friendly, beautiful, and perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

My family (me, my parents, sisters, and my husband) visited Volterra a couple of weeks ago, and by strange circumstances ended up here. Let me just say, WOW. The rooms were great, and the location is perfect, right in the middle of everything. There is a rooftop garden which is AMAZING, and so pretty. It smelled only of tons of flowers, and we brought some wine up there every night to enjoy the atmosphere and view. The breakfast was great. We had a tiny issue with our shower leaking, and it was fixed immediately.
We originally signed up for three nights, and actually extended our stay to a week because we loved it so much. The hotelier (owner?) always had great recommendations for us of what to do in Volterra and great restaurants. I truly can't wait to go back to Volterra and stay here again!!!!
Run, do not walk, to Albergo Etruria!!!!! You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: Try to get a room right on the street, it's a bit louder at night, but so beautiful.
