“Nice for a conference”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

The bungalow was spacious but dark and not very clean (a lot of black hair on the floor and in the bathroom), old-fashioned furniture and quite outdated bathroom. Staff was ok. The resort also features a nice large pool, a beautiful beach, a pool bar, a disco, some very over-priced shops and some restaurants. Food was of good quality but every day the same variety was provided (boring after a few days). Breakfast was very poor for a 4-star hotel. Watch out for your plate, the staff likes to take it before you have finished your meal! Everything in the resort has to be paid with the Tanka card which is also your room key and has to be charged with cash. It works like a prepaid card, so cash or credit cards are not accepted as payment. Parking was free. Altogether I had a nice stay for business but wouldn't recommend the resort for vacation.

We attended for a conference. Never stayed in a resort before. The location was wondeful. The resort itself was complete. Everthing was on offer. Good food. Private beach. Swimming pool, gym, spa etc. Probably great for a family wanting a safe Sardinian experience. We took a trip into Villasimius one afternoon. Great little town. The roads (we hired a car) and the coastline are something else. But the resort. It did what it did very well. Somewhat impersonal, but that is the nature of a resort. For why we were there, it was excellent.

This resort is very well designed and maintained; bungalows are spread over a large park with palm trees, banana trees, oleanders, bougainvillea and so on. It has plenty of opportunities for entertainment, shopping and relaxing at the beach or swimming pool. We came here for a conference in the low season and enjoyed every single day. Staff was always friendly, helpful and efficient. The restaurant offered a great variety of food, enough to make one’s own meal different everyday. The experience may be different in mid-summer when every place is occupied, but we thought it was great. We like the safety of the Tanka card for paying, as it takes away the need to carry cash. There is an ATM for getting cash, if needed. To get there, we recommend renting a car. The road along the coast offers beautiful perspectives.

aged structure, but well maintained and clean.
beautiful beach.
No ATM machine, no change of foreign notes and... you can charge your spending card only with cash......
reception personnel "disconnected" from resort reality
on the other hand, village personnel and evening shows very professional

I went to the Tanka village resort for a family vacation while visiting Sardenia. The property is lovely and has a great family atmosphere. The strengths are the beauty of the property, the amenities and the fact that there is a lot to do to keep the little ones entertained. The food was great - we were on a meal plan breakfast and dinner were included. Generally the service was really good especially the wait staff at the restaurants who were very friendly and accommodating always cheerful. There is a kids club for the little ones and the staff serving the camp was very efficient and they had good programming for the kids. I would sort of describe this as an upscale Club Med. They have an amazing spa - while the services were mediocre the facilities were amazing with 5 therapeutic pools at the spa called the Dream Bay which you could buy access. The weaknesses were that you need to beware that they charge you for everything! Beach chairs are at a premium in the first rows closest to the beach at an astonishing ( and gouging!) 40 to 50 Euros a day per chair! Its hard when you have small kids and you need to be able to see them by the ocean, Towels must be rented ( although deposit is returned when towels are) They have bike rentals ( resort is big) for a whopping 15Euros a day per bike!!- and internet non existent except for at reception where you could buy it only by the hour at a whopping 6 euros per hour and only use it at reception!!! All these surcharges are astonishing when you consider what you pay to go to the resort -- Also speaking about reception i found they were the worse of the staff - did not give the information needed to understand how everything worked - they really should find more dynamic and friendly and accommodating people to work at reception - it was a real weakness - we found the clientele upscale and not overly friendly .

Whether you will like Tanka Village or not is likely to depend on your attitude towards all-inclusive (all-seclusive?) resorts. Important Note: this review is based on a stay in late June, which can still be considered as low season - I assume that guests' experience can vary considerably depending on which summer month you choose.
This stay was actually a mixed professional, then leisure, one: the Hotel has its own congress area, which offers good space and attentive service and catering for conference breaks. The Wi-fi (conference area only, there is a Internet access point in the main reception otherwise, but that's it) proved really unreliable and was only fixed on the last day of the conference. Accommodation (bungalow) is rather spacious and pleasant, as well as generally quiet. As noted by other reviewers, in the absence of a 'Do Not Disturb' external door sign, it may happen that hotel staff will attempt to start servicing the room before 10am, possibly waking you up in the process. This only happened once and they seemed to adapt to the guests' preferences. There is no minibar but a fridge that you have to restock by purchasing takeaway drinks from one of the bars, prices being reasonable for the location. The only downside is the presence of rather mighty mosquitoes (even by Caribbean, south east Asia or perhaps ... Winnipeg standards): if you have forgotten repellent, there is a well-equipped Pharmacy in the village.
There are various formulas, half-board being the standard one (that applies to mosquitoes as well, you'll be safe during daytime). Food is acceptable (that means good considering how many people they have to cater for, but not as good as you would imagine, or know, Sardinian food in general). The main restaurant gets to look more like your old school canteen (unlimited wine or draft lager, though). Tip: you are also allowed to eat at the Pizzeria, provided you book in advance via one of the villages service points; you will enjoy Pizza and pasta with service at your table, yet still unlimited draft beer. If you've opted for half board this is normally breakfast and dinner (allegedly negotiable but we did not try), and there are light options for lunch: a sandwich by the beach, a creperie and so on. In the evening, there are various bars where they are really generous with finger food and appetizers and service is generally attentive.
All payments take place via the electronic 'Tanka Card' (also your door key and scanned for restaurant access) which can only be refilled using *cash* at various points throughout the village. You cannot use a debit/credit card to that effect even in the main reception where you will be directed to the ATM machine - not too convenient if your bank charges fees for Euro cash withdrawals (there is an in-room safe). Check-in and check-out are efficient, although check-out can be really early (9-10am), with some room for negotiation but don't hold your breath at busy times. Because of the mixed nature of our stay we had several bookings and were asked to re-activate keycards three times in one week, whilst being allocated the same room. This was one example of a certain bureaucracy pervading the whole management, probably the price to pay to manage a large resort; the general tone remained friendly though (but neither did we express outrage at the apparent absurdity of the process, which probably helped).
The beach is really wonderful and if you book on time you'll be allocated a nice spot and plenty of space. There is an entire price range but for 14€ / day (2 pax) it is definitely worth it. For part of the stay only one of us enjoyed the beach and we were given a 50% discount. There are towels for rent as well with a 10€ refundable deposit and 1.5€ changing fee. My advice would be to book for several days in advance.
Overall, I have to admit it was a pleasant surprise, not as daunting as some previous reviews have suggested, but this may vary considerably depending on the month of your stay. Finally, the village offers to book taxi transfers to Cagliari and/or the airport (that may be already included in other, 'package' tours).

My Wife and I Travelled to this resort for a weekend convention with her company. The place was gorgeous!!! Sandy beaches, Village shops, and great people.

Positives - Beach and water was beautiful. All inclusive- good food with a wide variety. Beer and vino also included. Rooms we decent with great A/C! Aperol Spritzes and snack trays were AWESOME! Discoteque was a lot of fun. Grounds were immaculate and conference areas were well appointed. Wide variety of shops and bars.

Negatives- Internet only available for a fee at the front office. Shower was a bit small. English was managable, but broken at the front desk. Bottled water was extra (but i hear that's standard in these parts). We had to come home...

This place was a great

Room Tip: Be sure to request a queen or king if you don't like pushing 2 doubles together.
