We picked the car up at Naples Airport followed the signs for Salerno and turned off autostraza at Castellamara then follow signs for Sorrento go through Vico Equense after about 1 mile look for Moon valley Hotel on your left then turn off 1st left up what seems a single track road follow this for at least 15 mins climbing up the mountain to Arola past a pizzarea on your left Cassiopea is 50 mtrs on your left up another single track rd, difficult to find but well worth it once your there. The host are great and cant do enough for you, the breakfast is first class with a glut of home made produce, its not luxury accomodation but never the less theres everything you need set in the beautiful Italian countryside overlooking the bay of Naples. We can certainly recommend it although it is out of the way,

Room Tip: we had the room by the Kitchen and was told to help ourselves to drinks etc in fridge

If tired of the churn of buses, hotels, and groups of people crowding the main roads along the Sorrentine peninsula, then do yourselves a favor and stay here for as long as you can. The location is near the middle of the peninsula, so you are well away from the tourist crowd and into the places where life happens. It also affords you the ability to get to either side of the peninsula relatively quickly. A short hike up starting from across the street leads to an unbeatable view of the whole area, nice for sunsets. The B&B itself is fabulous: built on the foundations of a very old castle, with killer views. Most importantly, the hospitality provided by the family who runs the B&B was the best we'd had in Italy. You will quickly recognize that they are very proud of the local culture and want to share it with you, including their homemade foods like the jam and cheese served up at the plentiful breakfast (yummy), accompanied by local produce, and served on the terrace if you like. Don't be surprised if a few other goodies from the family's kitchen and garden work their way to the table. Doable by bus, but we had rented a car in Naples and drove the mountain roads with no problems, go slow and honk lots. A very good restaurant a few houses down, packed with locals. The family is involved in the local community and want to share the “greatest hits” of the Sorrentine peninsula as well as their little part of it, but they also want to learn about you. We'll be back!

We blindly chose this B&B from the internet, and though its location was not quite what we expected ( a hair-raising scooter ride, with all our luggage, up the winding mountain road ) we were charmed by its history, the gracious hosts, Caterina and Ignacio, and the beautiful scenery. A great place to explore the country from, the restaurants recommended by our hosts were fabulous ( ordering pizza by the metre! ), and the freshness of the food - wow! Home made everything, from jams to limoncello, and a great garden, terrace and view. So sorry we had to leave.

On arriving in Italy we rented a car and travelled south from Rome to the Sorrentine Peninsula/Amalfi Coast (about 2.5 hours driving time). We had pre-booked the bed and breakfast Cassiopea for 3 nights based on good reviews on the internet. We were not disappointed. This B & B was charming, the rooms clean and large and the view was excellent. The price was more than reasonable at 55 euros per night for two people including a full breakfast (albeit a European one). The owners did not speak French or English (our languages) well but they were friendly and we managed to communicate somehow. The breakfast was very nice including fresh coffee, local pastries and bread, fresh fruit and olive oil made by the owners from trees on-site. We ate outdoors in October on the large patio overlooking the rolling hills of the Sorrentine coast and the Bay of Naples. The only note of concern is in getting to this B & B. It is near a tiny town called Preazzano in the hills above Vico Equense and not easy to find. If you have a detailed map of the area you should be in good shape. Otherwise, ask in VIco Equense for directions as we did. You definitely need a small car to get there as the roads are extremely narrow and twisty. There are a couple of nice restos within 2 kms but walking on the road is quite dangerous as there are no shoulders or sidewalks. All in all though for a relaxing holiday in a gorgeous area for a decent price I would highly recommend the Cassiopea.

Family of four touring from Sicily up to north Italy and back.
Excellent B&B in beautiful surroundings at a reasonable price. Road is long and awkward up the mountain but the place and the hospitality from the host (and his wife) more than make up for this.
